Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Emo Music
Emo is a rock music genre characterized by emotional, often confessional lyrics. It emerged as a style of and hardcore punk from the Washington D.C. hardcore punk scene, where it was known as emotional hardcore or emocore and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace. Pop punk (or punk pop) is a rock music genre that combines elements of punk rock with power pop or pop. The Everglow
''The Everglow'' is the second studio album released by the American rock band Mae. The album is designed as a storybook, including illustrations for each song inside the booklet. With its story-like nature, ''The Everglow'' is considered a concept album. "Prologue" and "Epilogue" have narrations by Charlotte Martin. The album was received positively, with 4 out of 5 stars from Allmusic, and 4½ out of 5 stars from Jesus Freak Hideout. Special edition ''The Everglow'' was re-released by Tooth & Nail on April 18, 2006, as a special edition. The re-release contains three additional tracks: the new song "Where the Falls Begin", a cover of the Beatles' " A Day in the Life", and a demo of "Suspension" featuring Kenny Vasoli from The Starting Line. It was packaged with a DVD that contained music videos, featurettes, live footage and photo galleries. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Something Corporate
Something Corporate (also known as ''SoCo'') was an American rock band from Orange County, California, formed in 1998. Their last line-up included vocalist and pianist Andrew McMahon, guitarists Josh Partington and Bobby Anderson, bassist Kevin Page and drummer Brian Ireland. Following their formation, Something Corporate recorded demos that were eventually released as an independent, studio album entitled ''Ready... Break''. Soon after, they were signed to MCA Records but were released under the Drive-Thru Records banner for their debut EP '' Audioboxer''. The Starting Line
The Starting Line is an American pop punk band based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that formed in 1999. History Early years (1999–2001) In 1999, the band that would become The Starting Line was initiated in Churchville, Pennsylvania via an e-mail from guitarist Matthew "Matt" K. Watts to vocalist/bassist Kenny Vasoli. It asked if the 14-year-old Vasoli, who was at that time in a band called Smash Adams, was interested in "Jamming and shit", as the message title read. Only a few weeks later, Vasoli found himself rehearsing with his future band-mates Watts, guitarist Mike Golla and drummer Tom Gryskewicz. Soon, the band started touring under the name Sunday Drive, selling out home-made merchandise and a self-recorded demo cassette titled ''Four Songs''.
