Freeman Dre And The Kitchen Party
Freeman Dre and the Kitchen Party is a folk rock band from Toronto, Canada. Background Freeman Dre and the Kitchen Party is helmed by bandleader and singer-songwriter Andre (Dre) Flak. The origins of the band come from house parties where Dre and Lonny would play music in Dre's kitchen. The name "Kitchen Party" came from these parties, in the spirit of an east coast Kitchen Party or traditional Céilidh. The Kitchen Party is also a member of ''Fedora Upside Down'', a musical collective begun by Dre and Mark Marczyk of The Lemon Bucket Orkestra. ''Fedora Upside Down'' has been described as a "motley assortment of cultural ambassadors" who spend "the summer taking over the city’s streets, parks, restaurants and bars with lively music and raucous dance parties." The Dakota Tavern
The Dakota Tavern was a live music venue and bar in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. History The Dakota opened in December 2006. It was co-owned by business partners Shawn Creamer and Shannon Kohlmeier. It is located in the Little Portugal, Toronto, Little Portugal neighbourhood of Toronto. The bar participated as a venue yearly for North by Northeast. The venue also hosts a recurring event on weekends called ''Bluegrass Brunch''. In 2020, owners of the bar expressed concerns about rising insurance prices during the COVID-19 pandemic in Toronto and considered closing. In October 2024 it was sold to new owners, 1001020185 Ontario Inc., and closed temporarily. Apophenia () is the tendency to perceive meaningful connections between unrelated things. The term ( from the ) was coined by psychiatrist Klaus Conrad in his 1958 publication on the beginning stages of schizophrenia. He defined it as "unmotivated seeing of connections ccompanied bya specific feeling of abnormal meaningfulness". The Stanley Cup () is the championship trophy awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoff champion. Dale Morningstar is a Canadian rock musician and recording engineer and producer, originally from Chippawa, Ontario. Biography Morningstar is the founding member of The Dinner Is Ruined, an avant-garde rock band based in Toronto in the early 1990s. The band is known for an unconventional approach to music, Morningstar once even playing the stationary bicycle live at Massey Hall. Morningstar, however, is perhaps best known for co-founding The Gas Station Recording studio, which has been called "the hub of the Canadian indie rock sound" with Don Kerr in 1990.
