Free Voters Of Saxony
Free Voters Saxony (officially: FREIE WÄHLER – State Association of Saxony) is a state association of the Free Voters party in the Free State of Saxony. Since the constitution of the 8th Saxon State Parliament after the 2024 Saxony state election, the party has been represented by one representative in the Landtag of Saxony, Matthias Berger. History A forerunner of the Free Voters already ran in the 2009 Saxony state election, , not to be confused with the party of the same name founded in 2021, achieved 1.4% at that time. The Free Voters themselves then ran in the 2014, 2019 and 2024 elections. In 2014, the party received 1.6 percent. The party was able to more than double this result in the 2019 election. Grimma
Grimma (; , ) is a town in Saxony, Central Germany, on the left bank of the Mulde, southeast of Leipzig. Founded in 1170, it is part of the Leipzig district. Location The town is in northern Saxony, southeast of Leipzig and south of Wurzen. Flooding The river Mulde flows through the town, a significant section of which is situated in a floodplain. Freie Sachsen () is a far-right monarchist, autonomist, and secessionist movement within the German State of Saxony. It seeks to restore the former Kingdom of Saxony through an autonomist government or a "Saexit if Necessary". Matthias Berger
Matthias Berger (born 2 January 1968) is a German politician who is a member of the Landtag of Saxony. On 1 December 2023 Berger was selected as the top candidate for the Free Voters of Saxony for the 2024 Saxony state election in which he was elected. Political career As an independent politician, Berger was first elected mayor of Grimma on 10 June 2001: he received 57.6 percent of the vote as an independent candidate with the nomination from the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). A year later, Berger became known nationwide with his fight against the effects of the " flood of the century" on his city.
