Free Fallin'
"Free Fallin'" is the opening track from American musician Tom Petty's debut solo album, '' Full Moon Fever'' (1989). The song was written by Petty and his writing partner for the album, Jeff Lynne, and features Lynne on backing vocals and bass guitar. The duo wrote and recorded the single in two days, making it the first song completed for ''Full Moon Fever''. "Free Fallin'" is one of Petty's most famous tracks as well as his highest- and longest-charting. It peaked at No. 7 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart in January 1990, becoming his third and final top ten hit. Petty and The Heartbreakers performed the song at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1989, with Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin, and at the February 2008 Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show. Thomas Earl Petty (October 20, 1950October 2, 2017) was an American musician who was the lead vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, formed in 1976. "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" is a recurring survey compiled by the American magazine ''Rolling Stone''. It is based on weighted votes from selected musicians, critics, and industry figures. The first list was published in December 2004 in a special issue of the magazine, issue number 963, a year after the magazine published its list of " The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time". In 2010, ''Rolling Stone'' published a revised edition, drawing on the original and a later survey of songs released up until the early 2000s. Another updated edition of the list was published in 2021, with more than half the entries not having appeared on either of the two previous editions; it was based on a new survey and does not factor in the surveys that were conducted for the previous lists. The Westside Pavilion is a former shopping mall located in West Los Angeles, California, United States. The three-story urban-style shopping mall once had 70 shops but was down to 54 retailers when Hudson Pacific announced plans to convert most of the site to offices. It has been renamed One Westside as it is transformed into offices for Google. It is owned and operated by Hudson Pacific Properties, which is acting as landlord and developer in a joint venture with previous owner The Macerich Company to transform the mall from retail to media and technology company offices. Phil Jones (musician)
Phil Jones (born June 6, 1948) is an American drummer, percussionist, and record producer. Jones played percussion with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in the early 80's both live and in the studio, while also playing drums and percussion on Tom Petty's solo album '' Full Moon Fever'', which included the hit songs " Free Fallin'", " I Won't Back Down", and " Runnin' Down a Dream". His work outside the group includes playing on the Del Shannon albums; ''Drop Down and Get Me'' and '' Rock On!''. He currently runs his own recording studio in Los Angeles called 'Robust Recordings'. Early years Jones was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He received no formal drum lessons but showed a keen interest in music during school, citing Al Jackson Jr. and Keith Moon as his favourite drummers.
