Frederick Ffoulkes Swanwick
Frederick ffoulkes Swanwick (died 1913) was a politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. He represented the electoral district of Bulimba from 29 November 1878 to 4 July 1882. He was previously a schoolmaster and a barrister. After becoming insolvent and being struck off the Roll of the Queensland Bar in 1882, he established a legal coaching school at his residence in Norman Park, Queensland, Norman Park, Brisbane. He was the first teacher at Hemmant State School, originally called Bulimba Creek School, which opened in 1864. Bulimba is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. The electorate covers the inner eastern suburbs of Brisbane. It is bounded on the north and the west by the Brisbane River and, as at the 2009 election, covers the suburbs of Bulimba, Balmoral, Cannon Hill, Hawthorne, Morningside, Norman Park, Murarrie and Seven Hills. Hemmant State School
Hemmant State School is a heritage-listed state school at 56 Hemmant-Tingalpa Road, Hemmant, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1876 to 1930s. Its architects included Francis Drummond Greville Stanley. It was also known as Bulimba Creek School and Doughboy Creek Mixed School. On its grounds is the historic house Dumbarton, also known as Ashcroft House and Gibson House. The original Hemmant State School closed at the end of 2010, and in 2012 was replaced by the Hemmant Flexible Learning Centre, a new school targeted at students disengaged from mainstream education. A barrister is a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions. Barristers mostly specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. Nundah Cemetery
Nundah Cemetery is a heritage-listed cemetery at 88 Hedley Avenue, Nundah, City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1840s to 1963. It is also known as German Station Cemetery. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History The cemetery was established in 1846 by a small group of German Lutheran missionaries who, in 1838, had founded Queensland's first free settlement, at Zion's Hill above Kedron Brook. At that time, the district was known as " German Station", as the earliest settlers were Lutheran missionaries, and hence the cemetery was originally known as " German Station Cemetery". George Grimes (17 December 1835 – 28 January 1910) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Grimes was born in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, the son of William Grimes and his wife Mary (née Douglas). After arriving in Australia in 1849 on board the '' Chaseley'', he took up farming at Kurilpa with his brother Samuel in 1857 before moving to ''Coongoon'' at Fairfield where he grew arrowroot and sugar in 1863.
