Braniff International Airways
Braniff Airways, Inc., operated as Braniff International Airways from 1948 until 1965, and then Braniff International from 1965 until the cessation of air operations, was an American airline that operated from 1928 until 1982 and continues today as a retailer, hotelier, travel service and branding and licensing company, administering the former airline's employee pass program and other airline administrative duties. Braniff's routes were primarily in the midwestern and southwestern United States, Mexico, Central America, and South America. In the late 1970s it expanded to Asia and Europe. The airline ceased air carrier operations in May 1982 because of high fuel prices, credit card interest rates and extreme competition from the large trunk carriers and the new airline startups created by the Airline Deregulation Act of December 1978. Fred Jones is a fictional character in the American animated series ''Scooby-Doo'', leader of a quartet of teenage mystery solvers and their Great Dane companion, Scooby-Doo. Fred has been primarily voiced by Frank Welker since the character's inception in 1969. Character description In most series, Fred wears a white and/or blue shirt and blue pants. In the original series, Fred wears an orange ascot tie with a blue shirt and white sweater. In the 1990s direct-to-video films, Fred generally wears a light blue shirt. Frederick Nelson Jones (F N Jones) (4 May 1881 – 29 August 1962) was a New Zealand saddler, photographer, amusement park owner and inventor. Jones was most well known for his journalistic photographs, and he recorded important Nelson civic events from the early 1900s to 1935. He is also known as the creator of the popular attraction Pixietown, or Pixie Town, which toured internationally. Early life Jones was born on 4 May 1881. His father, also named Frederick Nelson Jones, was a saddler. His mother's name was Emeline Sophia Jones. Once Jones had finished school he worked for his father as a saddler. In 1904, he sold 1, 500 prints from the three glass plate negatives he took of the burning of Nelson College. After this, his photography business flourished and he was able to buy land and start a studio. Frederick McKinley Jones (May 17, 1893 – February 21, 1961) was an American inventor, entrepreneur, engineer, winner of the National Medal of Technology, and an inductee of the National Inventors Hall of Fame. He innovated mobile refrigeration technology. Jones received 61 patents, including 40 for refrigeration technology, and also revolutionized the cinema industry by creating a superior sound system for projectors at the time. Frederick Edward Jones (1759–1834) was an Irish theatre manager. Life Born at Vesington, County Meath in Ireland, he was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. With Lord Westmeath he leased the Music Hall in Fishamble Street, Dublin, and opened it, 6 March 1793, with productions of ''Beggar's Opera'' and ''The Irish Girl'', with amateur casts.
