Fred Elliott (footballer)
Frederick Clifford "Pompey" Elliott (7 April 1879 – 3 August 1960) was an Australian rules footballer in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Fred was the first VFL player to reach 200 games and was elected to the Carlton Hall of Fame in 1988. Family Fred was born in Carlton with the name Frederick Clifford Saggers to William Constantine Saggers (1824–1880) and Florence Mary Woodliffe Willcox (1857–1929), who had married in 1876. He was only a few months old when his 56-year-old father died. Fred's mother was only 23 years old at the time and quickly re-married. The new husband's name was Frederick Giddons Anson Elliott (1859–1920). Baby Fred was given his stepfather's surname. He married Florence May Windsor (1879–1959) at St Thomas's Essendon on 26 September 1906. The newly married couple went to live at 1 Pascoe Vale Road, Moonee Ponds. Frederick Henry "Fred" Elliott (February 18, 1903 – August 28, 1982) was a Canadian professional ice hockey winger. Early life Elliott was born in Clinton, Ontario. Elliot played junior hockey with the Owen Sound Greys, where he was a teammate of Cooney Weiland, and the Minneapolis Millers. He played minor league hockey with the Toronto Ravinas during the 1927–1928 season. Fred Elliott is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by John Savident. He made his first appearance during the episode that aired on 26 August 1994. Savident quit the role in 2005, and Fred died on-screen on 11 October 2006. Development Fred's character was developed to loudly repeat everything he said, in a similar manner to ''Looney Tunes'' character Foghorn Leghorn. John Savident revealed that, when filming scenes as Fred, he "was inspired by quirks of real-life people." He explained in an interview with ''Digital Spy'' that "a neighbour from his childhood was among the people who influenced his performances". He also claimed that he based Fred's mannerisms "on people I knew."
