Françoise De Rohan
Françoise de Rohan (1535 – 1 December 1591) was a French duchess and courtier. She served as lady-in-waiting to queen Catherine de' Medici. Life Françoise was the daughter of René I de Rohan and Isabel d'Albret of Navarre. She was the granddaughter of John III of Navarre, Jean d'Albret, King of Navarre, and cousin of Jeanne d'Albret, who was mother of Henri of Navarre, also known as Henry IV of France, Henri IV. Through her father, Françoise was descended from 11th-15th century Breton people, Breton dukes, while on her mother's side she was a niece of Henry II of Navarre, Henry d'Albret, King of Navarre, who had married Marguerite de Navarre, Marguerite d'Angoulême. Her aunt, Queen Marguerite, had Françoise educated with her own daughter, Jeanne III of Navarre, Jeanne, the future mother of Henry IV. Catherine de' Medici (, ; , ; 13 April 1519 – 5 January 1589) was an Italian Republic of Florence, Florentine noblewoman of the Medici family and Queen of France from 1547 to 1559 by marriage to Henry II of France, King Henry II. The House of Rohan () is a Bretons, Breton family of viscounts, later dukes and princes in the French nobility, coming from the locality of Rohan, Morbihan, Rohan in Brittany. François Viète (; 1540 – 23 February 1603), known in Latin as Franciscus Vieta, was a French people, French mathematician whose work on new algebra was an important step towards modern algebra, due to his innovative use of letters as parameters in equations.
