Benjamin Franklin Stevens
Benjamin Franklin Stevens (February 19, 1833March 5, 1902), was a bibliographer and for about thirty years before his death was the US despatch agent at London. Biography Benjamin Franklin Stevens like his brother Henry Stevens a bibliographer, was born at Barnet, Vermont, and was educated at the University of Vermont, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi society. In the 1840s he followed his brother to London in the book export business. He formed his own company with Henry J. Brown in 1864, forming the Literary and Fine Arts Agents, B. F. Stevens & Brown, continued by Ralph A. Brown. For about thirty years he was engaged in preparing a chronological list and alphabetical index of American state papers in English, French, Dutch and Spanish archives, covering the period from 1763 to 1784, and he prepared more than 2000 facsimiles of important American historical manuscripts found in European archives and relating to the period between 1773 and 1783. The Franklin PS-2 is an American, high-wing, strut-braced, single seat, glider that was designed by R. E. USPS 499-920 Design and development The prototype PS-2 was the wingspan ''Texaco Eaglet'', flown in 1930. The production PS-2 had shorter wings. The PS-2 is constructed with a steel tube fuselage and a wooden wing, all covered in doped aircraft fabric covering. The wings lack spoilers of other glide-path control devices and are supported by dual, parallel struts. The landing gear is a fixed monowheel and a skid. Operational history The prototype Eaglet performed a number of long tows, including one flown by Frank Hawks from California to Elmira, New York in 1930 and is now in the National Air and Space Museum. John Franklin "Frank" Stephens (born April 9, 1982) is an American disability advocate, actor and athlete. He has Down syndrome and has often acted as a spokesman for those with the genetic disorder. He is an ambassador for Global Down Syndrome Foundation and represented the Foundation at the first US congressional hearing for Down syndrome research. Early and personal life Stephens was born April 9, 1982, to Cornelia and John. He is from Fairfax, Virginia. Advocacy Stephens has been a public spokesman for those with Down syndrome for many years. In October 2012, he wrote an open letter to Ann Coulter about her use of slurs against mentally disabled people when referring to then-US President Barack Obama. Coulter refused to apologize, and Stephens spoke publicly to Piers Morgan as a result of the publicity.
