Frank Wright (jazz Musician)
Frank Wright (July 9, 1935 – May 17, 1990) was an American free jazz musician, known for his frantic style of playing the tenor saxophone. Critics often compare his music to that of Albert Ayler, although Wright "offers his honks and squawks with a phraseology derived from the slower, earthier funk of R&B and gospel music." According to AllMusic biographer Chris Kelsey, Wright "never recorded even a single record under his own name for a major label; he was 'underground' his entire career." In addition to tenor saxophone, Wright also played the soprano saxophone and bass clarinet. Biography Wright was born in Grenada, Mississippi, United States, and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and Cleveland, Ohio, where he began his musical career playing bass guitar, backing artists such as Rosco Gordon, Bobby Bland, Bobby "Blue" Bland, and B.B. Frank Wright (painter)
Frank Wright (1932 – August 9, 2020) was an American painter, professor of art for many years at George Washington University, and sixth-generation Washingtonian. Early life and education Wright was born in Washington, D.C. He attended DC Public Schools graduating from Eastern High School in 1950. From there, he attended American University on a scholarship from the National Society of Arts and Letters and received his BA, in 1954. He then went on to do studies and research at the Berenson Villa I Tatti in Florence, (1956-1958) and post-graduate work at the Fogg Museum at Harvard University (1960-1961). The study he undertook at Bernard Berenson's Tuscan residence was on the relationship of Florentine painting to the Florentine theatre in the Quattrocento. He received his master's degree in Art-History from the University of Illinois. Career As a painter, Wright's work has been exhibited widely. Frank Edwin Wright III (born December 9, 1972), better known by his stage name Tré Cool, is an American musician, best known as the long-time drummer for the rock band Green Day. He replaced the band's former drummer, John Kiffmeyer, in 1990. Cool has also played in the Lookouts, Samiam, Dead Mermaids, Bubu and the Brood and the Green Day side projects the Network and the Foxboro Hot Tubs. Frank Bowcher Wright (11 October 1807 – 5 August 1891) was an English cleric, and a cricketer. He was associated with Oxford University Cricket Club and made his first-class cricket debut in 1829. Wright was educated at The Queen's College, Oxford The Queen's College is a constituent college of the University of Oxford, England. The college was founded in 1341 by Robert de Eglesfield in honour of Philippa of Hainault, queen of England. Frank Wright (born 1898) was an English footballer who made one Football League appearance at outside-right for Southampton in 1920. Football career Wright was born in Birmingham and played for Hamstead Colliery where he was spotted by a scout from Southampton. He joined the "Saints" in October 1920 and after scoring regularly for the reserves, he made his first-team debut on 11 December 1920, when he replaced Joe Barratt in a Third Division match at Grimsby Town. Frank Lloyd Wright Sr. (June 8, 1867 – April 9, 1959) was an American architect, designer, writer, and educator. Wright played a key role in the architectural movements of the twentieth century, influencing architects worldwide through his works and mentoring hundreds of apprentices in his Taliesin Fellowship. Wright believed in designing in harmony with humanity and the environment, a philosophy he called ''organic architecture''. This philosophy was exemplified in ''Fallingwater'' (1935), which has been called "the best all-time work of American architecture". Frank Wright (historian)
Richard Franklin "Frank" Wright (June 15, 1938 – April 25, 2003) was a historian in the Las Vegas, Nevada, area. Wright was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He received a political science degree from the University of Utah. He moved to Las Vegas in 1968 and taught at Nevada Southern University, later known as the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. In the late 1970s, he began working at the Binion's Horseshoe casino as an auditor and later as hotel manager. In the 1980s, Wright became curator of education for the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society. Because of his knowledge of Las Vegas history, he was often consulted by film and television productions, as well as reporters and journalists. He sought to dispel common misconceptions about the city's history. Wright was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2001, and retired from the museum in 2002.
