Frank Jackson (Alabama Politician)
Walter Frank Jackson (March 13, 1915 – 1983), was an American politician and businessman from Opp, Alabama. A Democrat, he served for 12 years in the Alabama House of Representatives, as well as two terms on the Opp City Council from 1952 to 1960. He was a charter member of the Opp Lions Club in 1946, served as president of that organization from 1945 to 1950, and was still an active member at the time of his death. He was a member of the Opp City Board of Education from 1951 to 1952, and served for two years as president of the Opp Chamber of Commerce from 1950 to 1951 and from 1962 to 1963. A Freemason, he served as Worshipful Master of Opp Lodge number 605 from 1949 to 1951. He was best known for his efforts to bring about the realization of the lake and state park that is today known as the ' Frank Jackson State Park' outside Opp. Opened in 1970 as Lightwood Knot Creek State Park, the park was renamed in his honor by the State Legislature in the early 1980s. John Jackson (South East Derbyshire MP)
Frank Lawson John Jackson (12 June 1919 – 29 March 1976) was a British Conservative politician who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) from 1959 to 1964. Jackson unsuccessfully contested the Labour-held marginal constituency of South East Derbyshire at the 1955 general election, losing by 1,581 votes to the sitting Labour MP Arthur Champion. At the 1959 general election, he defeated Champion, taking the seat with a majority of only 12 votes. Jackson did not contest the seat at the 1964 general election, when Trevor Park gained South East Derbyshire for Labour. Frank Hardin Jackson (born April 14, 1939) is a former American football wide receiver. Jackson was born in 1939 in Paris, Texas, and attended Paris High School. He received varsity letters in high school in basketball, baseball, football, and track. He earned all-state honors in football. He received more than 15 offers to play college football, including offers from Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M. Jackson played college football at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 1957 to 1960. Jackson played professional football in the American Football League as a halfback for the Dallas Texans from 1961 to 1962. He appeared in 28 games for the Texans, tallying 1,247 return yards, 637 rushing yards, 348 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns. In 1963, the Texans became the Kansas City Chiefs. Franklin Willis Jackson (born May 4, 1998) is an American professional basketball player for the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils. Frank Jackson was an American outlaw. Biography Born in Llano County, Texas, Frank Jackson was orphaned at a young age. By 1874, Jackson was working as a tinsmith, tinner for Jim Murphy (outlaw), Jim Murphy in Denton, Texas, when he became acquainted with Sam Bass (outlaw), Sam Bass. Two years later, Jackson killed horse thief Henry Goodall. The following year, Jackson reluctantly joined Bass and his gang in a number of bank robberies, including the hold-up of a stagecoach near Fort Worth on December 22 and again on January 28, 1878. Within several weeks, Jackson and the others began robbing trains, the Houston & Texas Central Express near Allen, Texas on February 22, and near Hutchins, Texas on March 18. Over the course of the next year, Jackson became a close associate of Bass, and at one point, was able to intervene on behalf of another gang member, Jim Murphy, who was suspected of being an informant, thus saving Murphy's life. Frank Cameron Jackson (born 31 August 1943) is an Australian analytic philosopher and Emeritus Professor in the School of Philosophy (Research School of Social Sciences) at Australian National University (ANU) where he had spent most of the latter part of his career. His primary research interests include epistemology, metaphysics, meta-ethics and the philosophy of mind. In the latter field he is best known for the "Mary's room" knowledge argument, a thought experiment that is one of the most discussed challenges to physicalism.
