Frank Clarke (Victorian Politician)
Sir Francis Grenville Clarke (14 March 1879 – 13 February 1955) was an Australian politician. He was born in Sunbury to grazier William John Clarke (later Sir William Clarke, 1st Baronet) and Janet Marion Snodgrass. His grandfather William John Turner Clarke had been an early member of the Victorian Parliament, while his father had also served in the parliament. His brothers Sir Rupert Clarke and Russell Clarke and nephew Michael Clarke were also MPs. Frank Clarke attended Scotch College, the University of Melbourne, and Oxford University, becoming a grazier with widespread properties. On 24 July 1901 he married Nina Ellis Cotton, with whom he had six children. His son William married Jessie Clarke in 1938. Franklin Clarke (February 7, 1934 – July 25, 2018) was an American football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Colorado. Early years Clarke was born on February 7, 1934, in Beloit, Wisconsin. Clarke was named after Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States. He attended Beloit Memorial High School where he played football and basketball, and was on the track team. Frank James Clarke (15 July 1942 – 2 June 2022) was an English footballer. Clarke was the eldest of five brothers who all played in the Football League. Career After playing non-league football for Willenhall Town, he played in the Football League as a centre forward for Shrewsbury Town, Queens Park Rangers, Ipswich Town, and Carlisle United. He made his debut for Shrewsbury Town in 1962 and made 188 appearances for the club. His goal tally of 77 goals was joint-second on the club's all-time scorers list. He was inducted into Shrewsbury Town Hall of Fame. His younger brothers Allan, Derek, Kelvin and Wayne all played in the Football League. Frank was the only one of the five who did not represent Walsall. Frank Clarke (cricketer)
Frank Clarke (born 8 October 1936 in Cardiff, Glamorgan) is a former Welsh cricketer. Clarke was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. Clarke made his first-class debut for Glamorgan against the Combined Services at Cardiff Arms Park in 1956. Clarke went on to make thirty further first-class appearances for the county, the last of which came against the touring South Africans in 1960. Primarily a bowler, Clarke took 50 first-class wickets at an average of 37.36, with best figures of 5/66. These figures were his only five wicket haul and came against Middlesex at Lord's in the 1959 County Championship. With the bat, he scored a total of 98 runs at a batting average of 3.76, with a high score of 31. This score, which came against the touring Indians in 1959, accounted for 32% of his entire career runs. Injury forced Clarke to retire in the 1961 season. Frank Wigglesworth Clarke (March 19, 1847 – May 23, 1931) of Boston, Massachusetts, and Washington, D.C. was an American scientist and chemist. Sometimes known as the "Father of Geochemistry," Clarke is credited with determining the composition of the Earth's crust. He was a founder of The American Chemical Society and served as its President, in 1901. Expertise Clarke was the first theorist to advance a hypothesis regarding the evolution of elements. This concept emerged early in his intellectual career. His "Evolution and the Spectroscope" (1873) appeared in Popular Science Monthly. It noted a parallel evolution of minerals, accompanying that of plant life. He was known for pushing mineral analysis beyond analytical results. He sought compilations of the associations, alterations, and syntheses of each mineral sample. Frank Edward Clarke (20 December 1848 – 1 July 1899) was a New Zealand ichthyologist and scientific illustrator. He discovered numerous fish species previously unknown to science and was the third most active describer of those new species in New Zealand from 1870 to 1905. Clarke was also an artist and a collection of his scientific illustrations is held at Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
