Franjo von Allmen (born 24 July 2001) is a Swiss Alpine skiing, alpine ski racer who competes in the speed disciplines of Downhill (ski competition), downhill and super-G. Career Born in Boltigen, Canton of Bern, Bern, von Allmen made his World Cup debut on 4 March 2022–23 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, 2023, in a downhill at Aspen Mountain (ski area), Aspen in the United States. Downhill (ski Competition)
Downhill is a form of alpine skiing competition. Whereas the other alpine skiing events (Slalom skiing, slalom, giant slalom, Super-G, super giant slalom, and alpine skiing combined, combined) emphasize turning and technique, downhill emphasizes "the six components of technique, courage, speed, risk, physical condition and judgement", according to the International Ski Federation, FIS "International Ski Competition Rules (ICR)".. Super-G
Super giant slalom, or super-G, is a racing discipline of alpine skiing. Along with the faster downhill, it is regarded as a "speed" event, in contrast to the technical events giant slalom and slalom. It debuted as an official World Cup event during the 1983 season and was added to the official schedule of the World Championships in 1987 and the Winter Olympics in 1988. Much like downhill, a super-G course consists of widely set gates that racers must pass through. The course is set so that skiers must turn more than in downhill, though the speeds are still much higher than in giant slalom (hence the name). Each athlete only has one run to clock the best time. In the Olympics, super-G courses are usually set on the same slopes as the downhill, but with a lower starting point. 2023 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Men's Super-G
The men's super-G in the 2023 Alpine Skiing World Cup consisted of eight events, including the final. The season was originally planned with eight races, but two were cancelled early in the season and were not planned to be rescheduled. However, when two races planned at Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 28-29 January 2023 were cancelled due to a lack of snow, the two previously-cancelled Super-G races were rescheduled on those dates at Cortina d'Ampezzo, restoring the original Super-G schedule plan. After four events, both defending champion Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and last year's runner-up Marco Odermatt had won two races each and finished second once, but Odermatt led the standings by 28 points due to the fourth result (third versus eighth). The men's giant slalom in the 2023 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup consisted of ten events including the final. The men's overall in the 2023 FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup consisted of 38 events in four disciplines: downhill (DH) (10 races), super-G (SG) (8 races), giant slalom (GS) (10 races), and slalom (SL) (10 races). The fifth and sixth disciplines in FIS ski events, parallel (PAR). and Alpine combined (AC), had all events in the 2022–23 season cancelled, either due to the schedule disruption cased by the COVID-19 pandemic (AC) or due to bad weather (PAR). Loïc Meillard
Loïc Meillard (; born 29 October 1996) is a Swiss World Cup alpine ski racer and specializes in the technical events of slalom and giant slalom. Born in Neuchâtel, Meillard made his World Cup debut in January 2015; his younger sister Mélanie is also a World Cup alpine racer. Career Meillard made his World Cup debut at age 18 in the Adelboden giant slalom in January 2015. At the Junior World Championships that March at Hafjell, Norway, he won a bronze medal in the super-G, silver in the giant slalom, and gold in the combined. Lauberhorn (downhill Ski Course)
Lauberhorn is the longest and oldest active FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup Downhill (ski competition), downhill ski course in the world, which is located and named after the Lauberhorn, same name mountain in Wengen, Switzerland, debuted in 1930. As Switzerland is and always was military neutral, downhill competitions were held even during World War II. Kandahar (ski Course)
Kandahar is a classic World Cup downhill ski course in Bavaria, Germany, opened in 1936. It is located at the Garmisch Classic ski area on the Zugspitze, above Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Since 1954, the competition called Arlberg-Kandahar races have been held here, which is rotating with other notable downhill ski courses in Austria, Switzerland, France, and Italy.
