Francis Burke (Franciscan)
Francis Burke, O.F.M. (died 1697), was an Irish Franciscan friar and writer. Born in Galway sometime early in the 17th century, Burke was among those expelled from the local Franciscan convent in 1652. He died in Italy in 1697. Francis Burke, or de Burgo, or de Burgh (died August or September 1723) was an Irish people, Irish Roman Catholic Church, Roman Catholic clergyman who served as Archbishop of Tuam (1713–1723).Archbishop Francis Burke

Career

Burke was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tuam, Tuam on 22 August 1713. He had been recommended by John Burke, 9th Earl of Clanricarde, his kinsman. Two months later, he succeeded as Archbishop of Tuam on 31 October 1713, and Consecration, consecrated on 4 April 1714. He died in office in August or September 1723.

Burke was born in County Cork and educated at Trinity College, Dublin. After curacies at Killaraght and Kilfree he was the Rector of Ardcane from 1874 to 1898. Francis Michael Burke (27 March 1876 – 17 August 1949) was an Australian politician. Biography Born at Tamworth, New South Wales, Tamworth to police officer Michael Burke (New South Wales colonial politician), Michael Burke (who would serve in the New South Wales Parliament from 1885 to 1887) and Catherine Agnes, ''née'' Leahy, he attended Crown Street Public School. After leaving school he held a variety of jobs including storeman, hotel manager and assistant on the staff of the ''Evening News''. In 1901, he married Ada May Frazer, with whom he had five children. He worked on the tramways until he was dismissed after involvement in a union-led 1908 strike; he formed a small business and from 1914 to 1918 worked as an inspector for the New South Wales Commodities Commission and the Commonwealth Price Commission. John Francis Burke
John Francis Burke (February 8, 1923 – August 4, 2006) was a Canadian dentist and politician. He represented the electoral district of Cape Breton South in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1970 to 1974. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia. Burke was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He was educated at St. Francis Xavier University and Dalhousie University, earning his D.D.S. degree at the latter in 1947. Joseph Francis "Sonny" Burke (March 22, 1914 – May 31, 1980) was an American musical arranger, composer, Big Band leader and producer. Maurice Francis Burke (May 5, 1845 – March 17, 1923) was an Irish-born prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Cheyenne in Wyoming (1887–1893) and as bishop of the Diocese of Saint Joseph in Missouri (1893–1923).
