Foxglove
''Digitalis'' ( or ) is a genus of about 20 species of herbaceous perennial plants, shrubs, and biennials, commonly called foxgloves. ''Digitalis'' is native to Europe, western Asia, and northwestern Africa. The flowers are tubular in shape, produced on a tall spike, and vary in colour with species, from purple to pink, white, and yellow. The scientific name means "finger". The genus was traditionally placed in the figwort family, Scrophulariaceae, but phylogenetic research led taxonomists to move it to the Veronicaceae in 2001. More recent phylogenetic work has placed it in the much enlarged family Plantaginaceae. The best-known species is the common foxglove, '' Digitalis purpurea''. This biennial is often grown as an ornamental plant due to its vivid flowers which range in colour from various purple tints through pink and purely white. Paulownia Tomentosa
''Paulownia tomentosa'', common names princess tree, empress tree, or foxglove-tree, is a deciduous hardwood tree in the family Paulowniaceae, native to central and western China. It is an extremely fast-growing tree with seeds that disperse readily, and is a persistent exotic invasive species in North America, where it has undergone naturalisation in large areas of the Eastern US. ''P. tomentosa'' has also been introduced to Western and Central Europe, and is establishing itself as a naturalised species there as well. Etymology The generic name ''Paulownia'' honours Anna Pavlovna of Russia, who was Queen Consort of the Netherlands from 1840 to 1849. The specific epithet ''tomentosa'' is a Latin word meaning ‘covered in hairs’. ''Rehmannia'' is a genus of seven species of flowering plants in the order Lamiales and family Orobanchaceae, endemic to China. It has been placed as the only member of the monotypic tribe Rehmannieae, but molecular phylogenetic studies suggest that it forms a clade with '' Triaenophora''. Rehmannia Elata
''Rehmannia elata'', the Chinese foxglove, is a species of flowering plant in the family Orobanchaceae, native to China. Growing to tall by broad, it is an herbaceous perennial with veined, hairy leaves and pink, tubular flowers with darker pink stripes in summer. The flowers bear a superficial resemblance to foxgloves, hence the common name "Chinese foxglove", which is also applied to the whole genus. However this species is not closely related to the true foxglove (''Digitalis''). The plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Foxglove Pug
The foxglove pug (''Eupithecia pulchellata'') is a moth of the family Geometridae found in Europe. It was described by the English entomologist James Francis Stephens in 1831. Description The wingspan is 18–22 mm and the species is quite colourful for the genus, with alternating bands of dark brown and buffish orange on the forewings. In some races the buff bands can be very pale. There are dark crosslines. The hindwings are similarly marked but generally paler. It flies at night in May and June and is attracted to light. The larva is quite variable but is normally yellowish-green with purplish markings. It usually feeds inside foxglove flowers (''Digitalis'' species). After hatching the larva bores through the side of the flower, sealing the mouth with silk and feeding on the reproductive parts of the flower, i.e. the stamen and developing seeds. The Way of the Tiger is a series of adventure gamebooks by Mark Smith (author), Mark Smith and Jamie Thomson (author), Jamie Thomson, originally published by Knight Books (an imprint of Hodder & Stoughton) from 1985. They are set on the fantasy world of Orb. The reader takes the part of a young monk/ninja, named Avenger, initially on a quest to avenge his foster father's murder and recover stolen scrolls. Later books presented other challenges for Avenger to overcome, most notably taking over and ruling a city. The world of Orb was originally created by Mark Smith for a Dungeons and Dragons game he ran while a pupil at Brighton College in the mid-1970s. Foxglove Oval is a park mostly commonly used for sporting events located on Foxglove Road in Mount Colah, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The Hornsby District Cricket Club uses the sporting grounds at Foxglove Oval along with Northern Districts Little Athletics Centre and Asquith Boys' Cricket Home Ground. It is also used for sport carnivals. The ground has a large canteen, a large carpark and a playground. For athletics, the grass surface is marked up with a full-size, 10-laned, 400-metre circular running track with a separate internal 12-laned, 110-metre straight track for sprints and hurdle races. Foxglove Covert is a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) located on Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, England and is on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The reserve was created in 1992 by The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards who had just returned from the First Gulf War. The reserve has been visited by royalty and has won many awards for its activities. The nationally renowned site is noted for being located on Ministry of Defence (MoD) land with access via security control on part of Catterick Camp. It was the first nature reserve in Richmondshire and was the first nature reserve with public access on MoD land. History In the 1970s, due to an upsurge in terrorism, security was upgraded and razor wire was installed around the perimeter of Catterick Garrison.
