The Forum for the National Unity of Abkhazia (FNUA, ab, Аԥсны Жәлар Ракзаара Афорум, russian: Форум Народного единства Абхазии, ka, აფხაზეთის ეროვნული ერთიანობის ფორუმი) is a prominent oppositional political party in Abkhazia. It is led by former President Raul Khajimba (also the former Prime Minister and former Vice President). History The FNUA was founded on 8 February 2005 to unite 12 opposition parties, socio-political movements, public organisations and youth organisations, which however continued to exist as individual entities. Daur Arshba
Daur Arshba (russian: Даур Аршба; born 28 March 1962) is an Abkhazian politician. He is the Head of the Presidential Administration, having been appointed by President Raul Khajimba on 10 October 2016, and Chairman of the pro-government Forum for the National Unity of Abkhazia. In the past, he has served as Vice Speaker of the People's Assembly and as Head of Tkvarcheli District. Following the death of Gennadi Gagulia on 8 September 2018, Arshba was appointed Acting Prime Minister of Abkhazia, a position he held until 18 September 2018. Abkhazian Presidential Election, 2009
Presidential elections were held in Abkhazia on 12 December 2009, the fourth such elections since the post of President of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia was created in 1994. The result was a victory for incumbent president Sergei Bagapsh, who received 63% of the vote, winning a second term in office. Bagapsh competed against four opposition candidates: former vice president and prime minister Raul Khajimba, who came second behind Bagapsh in the 2004 presidential election, and newcomers Beslan Butba, Zaur Ardzinba and Vitali Bganba. Khajimba had stated that he, Ardzinba and Butba would support each other should one of them reach the second round of the election. Bagapsh was inaugurated on 12 February 2010. Aiaaira (political Party)
"" ( ab, Аиааира; "Victory") is the national anthem of the partially recognized state of Abkhazia. It was adopted in 1992. The lyrics were written by poet Gennady Alamia, and the music was composed by Valery Chkadua. History The lyrics were written after Abkhazia's proclamation of independence in 1992. They used as inspiration the Abkhazian revolutionary song "Kiaraz" ( ab, "Кьараз") that originated during the short-lived Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918–1921). In 1994, after the war for independence with Georgia, Valery Chkadua composed the anthem at the personal request of the first Abkhazian President Vladislav Ardzinba. Chkadua, who studied under Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitry Shostakovich, included various folk motives in the anthem. The National Forum Aidgylara ( ab, Аидгылара, ''Unity'') is a socio-political movement in Abkhazia. It was founded during Perestroika as the ethno-nationalist movement representing the Abkhaz people. Aidgylara's founding congress took place on 13 December 1988 in the building of the Abkhazian State Philharmonic Orchestra, where the writer Alexey Gogua was elected its first Chairman. On 18 March 1989, Aidgylara organised the mass gathering at the historical meeting place of Lykhny that demanded from the Soviet leadership the reversal of Abkhazia's 1931 Stalin-era incorporation into Georgia and restoration of full Republic status. In 1989, Aidgylara also started publishing two newspapers, the eponymous Aidgylara and Edineniye, as well as the regional publication Bzyb in Gudauta District. Apsny is a political party in Abkhazia. First period (until 2005) Apsny was founded as a social movement in the 1990s, but was transformed into a political party in February 2001. It elected as its co-chairmen member of the People's Assembly Maia Agrba and Rushni Jopua and as its Executive Secretary Nugzar Agrba. Serving as the principal pro-government formation, Apsny supported Raul Khajimba in the 2004 presidential election. On 8 February 2005, Apsny formed, with eleven smaller parties and movements, the Forum for the National Unity of Abkhazia. Apsny ceased to function independently thereafter.
