Fort Lee is a Borough (New Jersey), borough at the eastern border of Bergen County, New Jersey, Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, situated along the Hudson River atop The Palisades (Hudson River), The Palisades. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 40,191, an increase of 4,846 (+13.7%) from the 2010 United States census, 2010 census count of 35,345, which in turn reflected a decline of 116 (−0.3%) from the 35,461 counted in the 2000 United States census, 2000 census. Along with other communities in Bergen County, it is one of the largest and fastest-growing ethnic Koreans, Korean Ethnic enclave, enclaves outside of Korea. Fort Lee High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grade, located in Fort Lee, in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Fort Lee School District. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1931. As of the 2023–24 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,179 students and 84.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 14.0:1. Fort Lee Historic Park
Fort Lee Historic Park is located atop a Cliff, bluff of the The Palisades (Hudson River), Hudson Palisades overlooking Burdett's Landing, known as Mount Constitution, in Fort Lee, New Jersey, United States. The park was conceived as early as 1952. Native Americans in the United States, Native Americans appear to have lived in the area for thousands of years before the European colonization of the Americas, arrival of Europeans. The bluff was the site of George Washington's 1776 encampment opposite Fort Washington (Manhattan), Fort Washington at the northern end of Manhattan. Fort Lee is named for General Charles Lee (general), Charles Lee. The site is a reconstruction of the encampment including the blockhouse, battery, quarters as well as a visitors center. It is part of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. Fort Lee Museum
The Fort Lee Museum is a historical museum in Fort Lee, New Jersey on Palisade Avenue within Monument Park. The museum opened in April 1999 and is operated by the Fort Lee Historical Society. The museum closed during the 2020-2022 Covid-pandemic and has not re-opened. Building The museum building is also known as the Judge Moore House. It was built in 1922 with an exterior of bluestone quarried from the Hudson Palisades atop which Fort Lee is situated. The building was slated for demolition in 1989 but community intervention prevented its destruction and the borough purchased it. Exhibitions The museum has collections which speak the long history of Fort Lee and surrounding communities such as the Battle of Fort Lee, America's first motion picture industry, the George Washington Bridge and Palisades Amusement Park. Fort Lee is a historic American Revolutionary War fort in Salem, Massachusetts. The site, located at a high point next to Fort Avenue on Salem Neck, is a relatively rare fortification from that period whose remains are relatively unaltered. It is an irregular 5-pointed star fort.Roberts, p. 405 Although there is some documentary evidence that the Neck was fortified as early as the 17th century, the earthworks built in 1776 are the first clear evidence of the site's military use. Reportedly, the fort had a garrison of 3 officers and 100 artillerymen with 16 guns. Fort Lee Air Force Station is a former United States Air Force station. It is located northwest of Prince George, Virginia. It was closed in 1983 due to budget cuts. History Fort Lee Air Force Station, located on the United States Army Fort Lee installation, was selected in 1956 for a Semi Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) system direction center (DC) site, designated DC-04. The SAGE system was a network linking Air Force (and later FAA) General Surveillance Radar stations into a centralized center for Air Defense, intended to provide early warning and response for a Soviet nuclear attack. This automated control system was used by NORAD for tracking and intercepting enemy bomber aircraft. In the later versions the system could automatically direct aircraft to an interception by sending instructions directly to the aircraft's autopilot.
