The Forsyth Institute, located in SOMERVILLE, Massachusetts, is one of the leading centers for dental and craniofacial research in the world. It was envisioned in 1908 by James Forsyth, who left $500,000 in his will for the establishment of a dental infirmary for poor children in Boston. Forsyth would pass away before establishing the institute leaving his two brothers, Dr. Thomas Alexander Forsyth And John Forsyth, the task of establishing the dental infirmary. The institute was once an infirmary for pediatric dental care in Boston. Forsyth Technical Community College, (Forsyth Tech) is a public community college in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The college is one of the largest in the North Carolina Community College System, with an enrollment of over 11,000 credit students and over 24,000 Corporate and Continuing Education students. Forsyth is a village in Macon County, Illinois, United States. Its population was 3,734 at the 2020 census, up from 3,490 in 2010. It is included in the Decatur, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The settlement of Forsyth dates to around 1854, when the Illinois Central Railroad came through Macon County. The village is named after Col. Robert Forsyth, the first general freight agent of the Illinois Central Railroad. Geography Forsyth is located in north-central Macon County at (39.9258, -88.9593).
