Former Subdivisions Of Pakistan
The former administrative units of Pakistan are states, provinces, and territories which mainly existed between 1947 and 1975 when the current provinces and territories were established. The former units have no administrative function today, but some remain as historical and cultural legacies. In some cases, the current provinces and territories correspond to the former units – for example the province of Punjab includes almost all the territory of the former province of West Punjab. Flag Of Sindh
The flag of Sindh is the official flag of the Pakistani province of Sindh. It uses the same colours as the national flag of Pakistan, dark green and white. The emblem of the province representing its major crops forms the centre of the flag with "Government of Sindh" written in Sindhi and Urdu on a crescent. It was adopted in 2005, by the Provincial Assembly of Sindh. Design The Sindh provincial flag is green and shows the provincial emblem in the centre which includes the major crops of this desert fertile province; cotton, rice, wheat and sugar cane. The State Emblem of Pakistan was adopted in 1954 and National emblem, symbolises the Islamic republic, ideological foundation of the Pakistan, country, the basis of its economy, cultural heritage, and guiding principles. History Punjabi artist Abdur Rahman Chughtai was the designer of the first state emblem for Pakistan. On 18 May 1948, the design was approved by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, governor-general of Pakistan. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) around Karachi was the original capital territory of Pakistan. The FCT was created in 1948 from the city of Karachi and surrounding areas as the location for Pakistan's capital following its creation. This move, however, was controversial as the territory was created despite resistance from the local groups in Sindh. The FCT was bordered by the province of Sindh to the northeast and the princely state of Las Bela to the northwest with the Arabian Sea to the south. Quetta
Quetta is the capital and largest city of the Pakistani province of Balochistan. It is the ninth largest city in Pakistan, with an estimated population of over 1.6 million in 2024. It is situated in the south-west of the country, lying in a valley surrounded by mountains on all sides. Quetta is at an average elevation of above sea level, making it Pakistan's highest altitude major city. Baluchistan (Chief Commissioner's Province)
The Chief Commissioner's Province of Baluchistan was a province of British Raj established in 1876. Upon the creation of Pakistan it acceded to the newly formed state. It was part of the Baluchistan Agency. It was dissolved to form a united province of West Pakistan in 1955 upon the creation of One Unit Scheme. History The province was originally formed over the period 1876–1891 by three treaties between Robert Sandeman and the Khan of Kalat, Khudadad of Kalat. Sandeman became the Political Agent for the British-administered areas which were strategically located between British India and Afghanistan. A military base was established at Quetta which played a major part in the Second and Third Afghan Wars.
