"Forget Me Not" is a 1968 single by Motown girl group Martha and the Vandellas (credited as Martha Reeves & the Vandellas). Though the song failed to ignite charts in America, barely hitting the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 93, (it was the b-side to their hit, "I Promise to Wait My Love") and failing to chart on the US R&B charts (a rarity for the group), it became a hit on the UK Singles Chart singles chart peaking at No. 11 (in March 1971) netting them their biggest UK hit in several years. Martha And The Vandellas
Martha and the Vandellas (known from 1967 to 1972 as Martha Reeves & The Vandellas) were an American vocal girl group formed in Detroit in 1957. The group achieved fame in the 1960s with Motown. An act founded by friends Annette Beard, Rosalind Ashford and Gloria Williams, the group eventually included Martha Reeves, who moved up in ranks as lead vocalist of the group after Williams' departure in 1962. The group signed with and eventually recorded all of their singles for Motown's Gordy imprint. The group's string of hits included " Come and Get These Memories", "Heat Wave", "Quicksand", "Nowhere to Run", " Jimmy Mack", " I'm Ready for Love", "Bless You" and "Dancing in the Street", the latter song becoming their signature single. The Andantes
The Andantes were an American female session group for the Motown record label during the 1960s. Composed of Jackie Hicks, Marlene Barrow, and Louvain Demps, the group sang background vocals on numerous Motown recordings, including songs by Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, the Temptations, Stevie Wonder, the Four Tops, Jimmy Ruffin, Edwin Starr, the Supremes, the Marvelettes, Marvin Gaye and the Isley Brothers, among others. It is estimated they appeared on 20,000 recordings. The Andantes provided back-up singing on Motown singles starting in 1962. Martha Reeves
Martha Rose Reeves (born July 18, 1941) is an American R&B and pop singer. She is the lead singer of the Motown girl group Martha and the Vandellas which scored over a dozen hit singles, including " Come and Get These Memories", "Nowhere to Run", "Heat Wave", " Jimmy Mack", and their signature "Dancing in the Street". From 2005 until 2009, Reeves served as an elected council woman for the city of Detroit, Michigan. Martha Reeves and the Vandellas were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. Ridin' High (Martha And The Vandellas Album)
"Ridin' High" is a 1968 soul album released by Motown girl group Martha and the Vandellas on the Gordy (Motown) label. This album featured the last Top 40 pop hits scored by the group during their recording tenure, " Love Bug Leave My Heart Alone" and "Honey Chile". It was a series of firsts for the group: it was the first album without the help of since departed producers William "Mickey" Stevenson and Holland–Dozier–Holland, however, Motown included one HDH track on the album, "Leave It In The Hands Of Love." Also on ''Ridin' High'' is a cover version of Dionne Warwick's then recent hit "I Say a Little Prayer."
