2006 Colombian Legislative Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Colombia on March 12, 2006 to elect members of the Senate and Chamber of Representatives. Presidential primaries were also held for the Liberal Party and the Alternative Democratic Pole prior to the upcoming presidential elections in May. Chamber of Representatives Senate In the two-seat indigenous constituency, more blank votes were cast than votes for parties, resulting in a re-run being required. This took place with the same parties ( AICO and ASI) but difference candidates. Simón Gaviria Muñoz
Simón Gaviria Muñoz (born 24 November 1980) is a Colombian economist and politician who served as Member of the Chamber of Representatives of Colombia from 2006 until 2014. The son of the 28th President of Colombia, César Gaviria, he also served as the Director of the National Planning Department during the second Santos government. He is an economist from the University of Pennsylvania and has a MPA from Harvard Kennedy School. He is remembered for voting for the 2012 Justice reform without having read it. He was elected to the Chamber in 2006 in representation of the Bogotá circumscription as the second-in-line in the electoral list headed by David Luna Sánchez of the For the Country of our Dreams movement that received 103,795 votes in the 2006 legislative elections.
