Football In Kosovo
Football in Kosovo is governed by the Football Federation of Kosovo, which was created in , as a branch of the Yugoslav Football Association. Prishtina, is the club from Kosovo with most participations in the Yugoslav First League. Football is the most popular sport in Kosovo. The Football Superleague of Kosovo is the top division of football in Kosovo. The division was set up in 1945 as a regional league within the Yugoslav football league system. In 2008, Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia. Until 2016, membership in UEFA and FIFA had been denied due to Kosovo's disputed recognition as an independent state. However, Kosovo was also not a member of the NF Board, which represents non-FIFA territories, including unrepresented cultural groups and unrecognized states. Ardian Kozniku
Ardian Kozniku (; 27 October 1967) is a Kosovan-Croatian professional football manager and former player who is the assistant manager of Kuwaiti club Al-Salmiya. Playing career Club He started his career at Vëllaznimi from Gjakova and was later picked up by Prishtina. He moved to Croatian side Hajduk Split in 1990 and played there until 1994, scoring 90 goals in 169 games in all competitions for them. He then went on to play for French clubs Cannes, Le Havre and Bastia, as well as Cypriot side APOEL, before making his comeback to Croatia in the summer of 1998, signing with Croatia Zagreb. After two and a half seasons at the club, he made a move to Austrian side Kärnten in the winter break of the 2000–01 season and left the club after only six months for Croatian side Hrvatski Dragovoljac, where he finished his career in 2002. Agim Cana
Agim Cana (born 29 September 1956) is a Kosovan former professional association football, footballer who played as a midfielder. He represented Yugoslavia national football team, Yugoslavia internationally at youth level. Personal life Cana was born in Đakovica, Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Yugoslavia (modern-day Gjakova, Kosovo) on 29 September 1956, to a Kosovo Albanians, Kosovar Albanian family. He is the father of Lorik Cana. He has Turkish nationality law, Turkish citizenship. On 2017 Cana bought KF Vëllaznimi, Vëllaznimi's whole actions and became club's chairman. Club career Cana played for FC Prishtina, Prishtina, KF Vëllaznimi, Vëllaznimi, Dinamo Zagreb, Gençlerbirliği, Samsunspor, FC Montreux-Sports, Montreux-Sports. Isa Sadriu
Isa Sadriu; (born 27 December 1963) is a Kosovo-Albanian retired footballer who played as a midfielder or defender. Club career Sadriu started his career with the local club Vushtrria where he played until 1981 and then transferred to KF Trepça. After playing with Trepça in the Yugoslav Second League since 1981, his talent was spotted by FK Partizan who brought him to their team during the winter break of the 1985–86 Yugoslav First League season. He played a total of 72 matches for Partizan, 22 of which were league ones. He left in the following winter having won two national championships during his year in Belgrade and joined FC Prishtina which was at that time the only topflight club from SAP Kosovo. Fadil Vokrri
Fadil Avdullah Vokrri (23 July 1960 – 9 June 2018) was a Kosovan football administrator and formerly Yugoslav player. Arguably one of the greatest Kosovan footballers, he was the president of the Football Federation of Kosovo from 16 February 2008 until his death on 9 June 2018. Early life Born in Podujevë, SFR Yugoslavia (modern Kosovo) to ethnic Albanian parents, Vokrri was known for his Diego Maradona-like approach with quick movement and strong shooting (where he established his strong shooting reputation at FC Prishtina). Fahrudin Jusufi ( sr-Cyrl, Фахрудин Јусуфи, ; 8 December 1939 – 9 August 2019) was a Yugoslav footballer who most notably played for Partizan, Eintracht Frankfurt and the Yugoslavia national team. Playing career Club career Jusufi was born into an ethnic Gorani family in the village of Zli Potok near Dragash ( Vardar Banovina, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, present-day Kosovo). KF Trepça
Klubi Futbollistik Trepça, commonly known as KF Trepça, is a professional football club based in the southern part of Mitrovica, Kosovo. The club currently plays in the First Football League of Kosovo in Group A. KF Trepça was founded in 1932. During the Yugoslav era it was the first football club from SAP Kosovo to gain promotion to the First Federal League, Yugoslavia's top football division, in 1977–78, after winning the Second Federal League title in 1976–77. Naim Kryeziu
Naim Kryeziu (4 January 1918 – 20 March 2010) was a Kosovo Albanian football player who played as a right winger He is most remembered for the fame he achieved while playing in Italy in the 1940s and 1950s. Club career Born in Gjakova, Republic of Kosovo, Kryeziu was a particularly quick right winger able to run 100 m in 11 seconds. He left his town in Kosovo as a youngster to join his brother in Tirana, making his footballing debut in the domestic top flight at the age of 15. Following the 1939 Italian invasion of Albania, he was noted by an Italian sports professor who suggested him to AS Roma.
