The Afghanistan national football team represents Afghanistan in men's international Association football, football and is controlled by the Afghanistan Football Federation. History Early history The Afghanistan Football Federation was established in 1922 and joined FIFA in 1948. It was also one of the founding members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in 1954. Afghanistan played its first official international match under FIFA at the 1948 Summer Olympics, where it faced Luxembourg national football team, Luxembourg on 26 July and lost 6–0. Ernst Franz Hermann Happel (29 November 1925 – 14 November 1992) was an Austrian football player and manager. Happel is regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time, winning both league and domestic cup titles in the Netherlands, Belgium, West Germany, and Austria. The Wiener Sport-Club, sometimes abbreviated as WSC, was established in 1883 in Vienna, Austria and is one of the country's oldest athletics clubs. Their traditional home is in the Dornbach quarter of the city ( 17th district).
