Food Historian
Food history is an interdisciplinary field that examines the history and the cultural, economic, environmental, and sociological impacts of food and human nutrition. It is considered distinct from the more traditional field of culinary history, which focuses on the origin and recreation of specific recipes. Food
Food is any substance consumed by an organism for Nutrient, nutritional support. Food is usually of plant, animal, or Fungus, fungal origin and contains essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, protein (nutrient), proteins, vitamins, or Mineral (nutrient), minerals. It publishes papers about the history and culture of food. Laura Shapiro
Laura Shapiro (born June 20, 1946) is an American food journalist and historian. Shapiro was a dance critic for ''The Boston Globe'' in the 1970s and joined ''Newsweek'' magazine in 1984. She shifted to food writing during her 15-year tenure at ''Newsweek'', and in 1995, she won a James Beard Foundation Award for one of her magazine features. Shapiro has written four books on culinary history. Her 2007 biography of television chef Julia Child won the Literary Food Writing award from the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Panikos Panayi
Panikos Panayi (born 18 October 1962) is a cultural historian known for his books on the social history of food, immigration, and inter-ethnic relations. Biography Panikos Panayi was born in a Greek Cypriot parents Nestora and Chrystalla who migrated to Britain. He was the oldest child with two sisters, Myllia and Roda. He completed his PhD at the University of Sheffield in 1988 on "Germans in Britain during the First World War, 1914-1918" under the supervision of Professor Colin Holmes and is part of the informally recognised Sheffield School of Migration and Prejudice. He is a cultural historian and has worked at De Montfort University in Leicester since 1990, becoming professor of European history there in 1999. Dorothy Hartley
Dorothy Rosaman Hartley (4 October 1893 – 22 October 1985) was an English social historian, illustrator, and author. Daughter of a clergyman, she studied art, which she later taught. Her interest in history led her into writing. Among her books are six volumes of ''The Life and Work of the People of England'', covering six centuries of English history. She is best known as the author of the book '' Food in England'', which has had a strong influence on many contemporary cooks and food writers. Delia Smith called it "A classic book without a worthy successor – a must for any keen English cook." Deborah Valenze
Deborah M. Valenze (born 1953) is an American historian who is the Ann Whitney Olin Professor at Barnard College in New York. She has written a number of books on topics that include early British women preachers and the global history of milk. Life Valenze was born in Plattsburgh, New York, in 1953. Lizzie Collingham
Lizzie Collingham is an independent scholar known for her books on English food culture. Her 2006 book ''Curry: a tale of cooks and conquerors'' in particular has been appreciated by critics.
