Foley House
Foley House, located at 45 and 47 Main Street, Westport, Ontario, Canada is of significant historical note because of its connection to Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald. Perhaps because of the Foley family acquaintance with several Fathers of Confederation, the Foley family played a prominent commercial role from this home and mercantile situated at the high water point of the Rideau Canal. The Foley House is a grand Victorian era house built in 1867, the year of Canadian Confederation, for Declan Finbar Foley and his wife Mary Ann Buckly. Six generations of Declan Foley's descendants enjoyed the well-built home, made three bricks thick and of the best available materials. Foley Family Declan Finbar Foley was born 1819 in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland, one of five children. Jennie Foley Building
The Jennie Foley Building, also known as the Jennie Foley-Victor A. Arrigo Building, is a historic commercial and residential building located at 626-628 S. Racine Ave. in Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1889, the four-story building has a storefront on its first floor and six apartments on its upper stories. The brick building's design features hexagonal bay windows, a metal cornice decorated with scrolls and dentils, and belt courses between floors on the east facade. The building was one of many hybrid commercial and residential buildings constructed in the area, the center of Chicago's Sicilian community in the early twentieth century, though most such buildings have since been demolished. In 1910, the parents of prominent Chicago lawyer and politician Victor A. Arrigo purchased the building; Arrigo lived in the building until his death in 1973. Foley Hall was a historic building located on the campus of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Sugar Creek Township, Vigo County, Indiana, Sugar Creek Township, Vigo County, Indiana. The building consisted of a three-story, three wing, brick structure built in 1860, fronted by a -story, Renaissance Revival architecture, Renaissance Revival style limestone addition built in 1897. The building was topped by a flat roof with a large cupola topped by a spire. It featured a two-story, central pediment supported by Corinthian order columns. John Foley House
The John Foley House is a historic residence located in New Hampton, Iowa, United States. John Foley (1841-1919) was a native of Ireland who came to Iowa in 1851 after having spent five years in Baltimore. He was engaged in farming until 1872 when he moved to New Hampton and became involved in politics, commerce, and banking. In addition to local offices, Foley spent a term in the Iowa House of Representatives and another in the Iowa Senate. He had this Italianate house built in 1875. The two-story brick house is built on a rock-faced foundation. It is basically rectangular in plan, and has an unusually deep 2-story polygonal projecting bay on the south side. Michael Foley Cottage
The Michael Foley Cottage is a historic house at 14 Emerson Street in Stoneham, Massachusetts. It is a remarkably well preserved instance of a worker's cottage, built c. 1855. It was occupied until the 1870s by Michael Foley, a shoemaker who may have worked at the nearby Tidd shoe factory. It is a two-story wood-frame structure, with a front-gable roof, clapboard siding, and granite foundation. Its front facade has three narrow bays on the first floor and two on the second, with the entrance in the rightmost bay. Decorative woodwork is minimal. The cottage was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
