Fly Away (Haddaway Song)
"Fly Away" is a song by Trinidadian-German musician Haddaway, released on May 29, 1995 by Scorpio and Polygram as the lead single from his second album, ''The Drive'' (1995). It was written by Dee Dee Halligan, Richard W. Palmer-James and Junior Torello, and produced by Halligan and Torello. As with several of Haddaway's singles, another CD maxi was commercialized a few months after the first release. The song was a number-one hit in Finland and a top-10 hit in Denmark, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The music video for "Fly Away" features the singer in a prison cell. Chart performance "Fly Away" went on becoming a notable hit on the charts across Europe, although it didn't reach the same level of success as his first singles. Nestor Alexander Haddaway (born 9 January 1965) is a Trinidadian-born German singer best known for his 1993 hit single " What Is Love", which reached number 1 in 13 countries. Early life Nestor Alexander Haddaway was born in Trinidad and Tobago in 1965. His mother was a nurse and his father was a marine biologist. His parents separated in the early 1970s and Haddaway first lived with his father in Europe, then with his mother in America. He was raised in Chicago and moved to the Washington, DC metropolitan area at the age of 9. Listening to Louis Armstrong encouraged Haddaway to learn how to play trumpet at the age of 14. He attended Meade Senior High School in Fort Meade, Maryland, where he was a member of the marching band, which eventually resulted in him forming his first group titled "Chances". James Hamilton (25 December 1942 – 17 June 1996) was a British DJ and dance music columnist for '' Record Mirror'', and later for '' Music Week'', where he worked until his death in 1996. He is recognised as a pioneering advocate of disco mixing in the UK and the addition of beats per minute (bpm) calculations to record reviews. Hamilton started as a DJ in his early 20s, playing rhythm & blues in a nightclubs in London.
