Flowers (Sweet Female Attitude Song)
"Flowers" is the debut single by UK garage duo Sweet Female Attitude, released on 3 April 2000. The song uses the same chord sequence as Erik Satie's ''Trois Gymnopédies'', and the actual piece can be heard in the version by the House & Garage Orchestra, from the 2018 album '' Garage Classics''. The UK garage remix by producer Sunship peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart with first-week sales of about 80,500. It went on to become the United Kingdom's 37th biggest-selling single of 2000 and received a double platinum certification from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for sales and streams of at least 1,200,000. The duo's subsequent releases failed to replicate the commercial success of "Flowers", leading to Sweet Female Attitude being labelled as a one-hit wonder. Sweet Female Attitude are an electronic music act from Manchester, England. They are known for the UK garage remix by Sunship of their track "Flowers", written by Martin Green a.k.a. Shine MC and Mike Powell, which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in April 2000. Biography Sweet Female Attitude began in 1996. Mike Powell, then manager/music producer and creator of the original name "Sweet Female Attitude" got together with DJ Shine MC and then 17-year-old singer Leanne Brown and began writing music together. Collectively, they developed a three-member group comprising Brown, Shine MC, and Charlene Morrison, then later Sarah Bridgewood joined. John St John Joseph (born 25 June 1970), also known as Johnathan Joseph and professionally as DJ Spoony, is a British DJ, radio and television presenter. He is a member of the UK garage production trio, the Dreem Teem. Spoony also presents his BBC Radio 2 show ''The Good Groove''. Early career Joseph was born in Hackney, East London to British West Indian parents. As Spoony, his career started on London Underground (a leading pirate radio station in the mid-nineties), forming the trio the Dreem Teem with Mikee B (of Top Buzz) and Timmi Magic. With the Dreem Teem, he joined Kiss 100 in December 1997, followed by bringing UK garage nationally to BBC Radio 1 in January 2000. They went on to win a Sony Award in their first year. ''DV'' (''Dagblaðið Vísir'') is an online newspaper in Iceland published by Torg ehf. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Early on it was one of the largest newspapers in Iceland and at one point had a 64% readership in Iceland. In the 1990s its readership started to dwindle and in 2003 its publisher was declared bankrupt. It was resurrected a week later by the publisher of Fréttablaðið. In 2006 it was changed from a daily newspaper into a weekly one. Since then it has changed publishers regularly and in 2018 its publisher, DV ehf., went bankrupt.
