The First Reformed Dutch Church of Bergen Neck, now known as ''The First Federated Church of Bayonne'' is located in Bayonne, Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 22, 1982. History The congregation was established in 1828 and the first church building dedicated on January 11, 1829. The current church was built in 1866 and enlarged in 1890. The building is an example of a bracketed, Italianate-influenced frame church. Bayonne ( ) is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. Located in the Gateway Region, Bayonne is situated on a peninsula located between Newark Bay to the west, the Kill Van Kull to the south, and New York Bay to the east. As of the 2020 United States census, the city's population was 71,686. Bayonne was originally formed as a township on April 1, 1861, from portions of Bergen Township. The Italianate style was a distinct 19th-century phase in the history of Classical architecture. Like Palladianism and Neoclassicism, the Italianate style drew its inspiration from the models and architectural vocabulary of 16th-century Italian Renaissance architecture, synthesising these with picturesque aesthetics.
