First Lady of Egypt () is the official title of the wife of the president of Egypt. History The title was established on June 18 1953 following the abolishment of the monarchy and the declaration of the republic, replacing the Queen Consort of Egypt title. Aisha Labib became Egypt’s first First Lady as she was the wife of Egypt’s first President Muhammad Naguib. Naguib’s presidency was short lived and was succeeded by Gamal Abdel Nasser and as a result, Tahia Abdel Nasser, the daughter of a Persian immigrant to Egypt became Egypt’s second First Lady. Jehan Sadat became the First Lady of Egypt on 15 October 1970 following Anwar Sadat’s inauguration as president. Jehan was born to an Upper-Egyptian father and a British mother from England. Entissar Amer (, ; born 3 December 1956) is the current First Lady of Egypt, since her husband Abdel Fattah el-Sisi became the sixth President of Egypt on 8 June 2014. Education Amer received her high school diploma from El Abbassia High School in 1977. She received a BCom degree in accounting from Ain Shams University. Family Amer married her cousin el-Sisi in 1977 after el-Sisi graduated from the Military Academy. They have three sons and one daughter: Mahmoud, Mostafa, Hassan and Aya. The office of President of Egypt was established in 1953. The president is the head of state of Egypt and the Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces. The current president is Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who has effectively controlled the country since the 2013 coup d'état, and was officially elected president in 2014. Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil El-Sisi (born 19 November 1954) is an Egyptian politician and retired military officer who has been serving as the sixth and current president of Egypt since 2014. After the 2011 Egyptian revolution and 2012 election of Mohamed Morsi to the Egyptian presidency, the first democratic election in the history of the country, Sisi was appointed Minister of Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces in August 2012, replacing Hussein Tantawi. Suzanne Saleh Mubarak ( , []; born 28 February 1941) is the widow of Egyptian former President of Egypt, president Hosni Mubarak and was the First Lady of Egypt during her husband's presidential tenure from 14 October 1981 to 11 February 2011. Sufi Abu Taleb (; January 27, 1925 – February 21, 2008) was an Egyptian politician. He served as Speaker of the People's of Assembly from 1978 to 1983 and, following the assassination of Anwar Sadat on 6 October 1981, assumed the duties of acting head of state for eight days per the Egyptian Constitution. He subsequently stepped aside for Sadat's Vice-President Hosni Mubarak. Early life Abu Taleb was born in Tamiya in Faiyum Governorate.
