Finch (American Band)
Finch is an American rock band from Temecula, California. The band is best known for their single " What It Is to Burn" from the album of the same name (2002). Their second album, '' Say Hello to Sunshine'' (2005), peaked within the top 30 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Following setbacks within the group, they released the album '' Back to Oblivion'' (2014). History Early history (1999–2001) Finch originally formed under the name Numb with Nate Barcalow on vocals, Alex Linares on guitar, Derek Doherty on bass and Alex Pappas on drums, although it is unknown until when they performed with this name, but it is known that they changed their name to Finch shortly after Randy Strohmeyer joined the band. ''AbsolutePunk'' was a website, online community, and alternative music news source founded by Jason Tate (the most recent CEO). The website mainly focused on artists who are relatively unknown to mainstream audiences, but it was known to feature artists who have eventually achieved crossover success, for example, Blink-182 and Fall Out Boy. The primary musical genres of focus were emo and pop punk, but other genres were included. Absolutepunk was acquired by Buzzmedia in 2008. After Buzzmedia filed for bankruptcy, Tate reclaimed the site's domain and name and consequently shut the site down on April 1, 2016. Finch (EP)
''Finch'' is the self-titled second EP by American post-hardcore band Finch. It is the first release since the band's hiatus in 2006. Background and recording Following a one-off date in November 2007, the band embarked on a West Coast reunion tour in January 2008. That same month, the band began recording new material. East Coast dates were added, extending the tour through to February 2008. In April 2008, the band performed at the Bamboozle Left festival, before playing the Give it a Name festival in the UK and the Groezrock festival in Belgium the following month. The band recorded an EP at Safe and Sound in Hollywood, California with them and Jason Cupp acting as producers. They were assisted by Alex Pablid; Cupp mixed the songs, which were then mastered by Fred Kavorkian at Avatar Studios in New York City. Razor & Tie was an American entertainment company that consisted of a record label and a music publishing company. It was established in 1990 by Craig Balsam and Cliff Chenfeld. Based in New York City (with additional offices in Los Angeles and Nashville), Razor & Tie releases were distributed by Universal Music Group. Razor & Tie initially focused on compilation albums and re-issues. Directly marketed through television spots, the label had early success with 70s, 80s and 90s-themed albums, beginning with ''Those Fabulous 70s'' in 1990. ''Back to Oblivion'' is the third studio album by American rock band Finch, released on September 30, 2014. It is the band's first full-length effort since ''Say Hello to Sunshine'' in 2005. After breaking up in 2006, reuniting in 2008, and breaking up again in 2010, Finch regrouped in 2012 and signed with Razor & Tie in 2014. "Two Guns to the Temple" was the first song released for the album on August 11, 2014. Brian Virtue (Thirty Seconds to Mars, Deftones) was brought in to produce the record. This is their first full-length album to feature bassist Daniel Wonacott, who first joined Finch when they reunited in 2007. ''Say Hello to Sunshine'' is the second studio album by American rock music, rock band Finch (American band), Finch. Following the release of their debut album ''What It Is to Burn'' (2002), the group signed to MCA Records, which soon afterwards was absorbed into Geffen Records. Drummer Alex Pappas left the band in early 2004 and was replaced by Marc Allen. This was the band's only studio album with Allen and also their last with original bassist Derek Doherty. Sessions for the next album took place at a variety of studios with Jason Cupp, Ben Moore and the band producing the proceedings. Prior to the album's release, the band went on tour in the US and Europe, and "Bitemarks and Bloodstains" was released as a single in May 2005.
