Filicollis Anatis
''Filicollis anatis'' is an endoparasite in the Polymorphidae family of thorny-headed worms. Adults have been found to occur in waterbirds such as ducks, where they cause a condition known as filicollosis. Larval stages occur in invertebrate hosts such as crayfish. A study in the Chernihiv region of Ukraine Ukraine ( uk, Україна, Ukraïna, ) is a country in Eastern Europe. It is the second-largest European country after Russia, which it borders to the east and northeast. Ukraine covers approximately . Prior to the ongoing Russian invas ... found that ''F. anatis'' infected ducks throughout their grazing period, but not in the winter; it also found that the parasite's eggs could remain viable throughout the winter when buried in mud under natural conditions. Acanthocephalans such as ''F. anatis'' form capsules in their intermediate arthropod hosts to protect the developing larvae from the host immune system. ''F. anatis'' forms its capsules primarily by secretin ...

Polymorphidae
The thorny-headed worm family Polymorphidae contains endoparasites which as adults feed mainly in fish and aquatic birds. When this taxon was erected by Meyer in 1931, a subfamily Polymorphinae was established in it. As the Polymorphidae as presently understood would then be monotypic, with no basal genera outside the Polymorphinae, the proposed subfamily is redundant for the time being and therefore most modern treatments simply omit it. '' Polymorphus minutus'' is an economically significant parasite in goose and duck farming. Species Polymorphidae contains the following species: ''Andracantha'' Schmidt, 1975 *''Andracantha baylisi'' (Zdzitowiecki, 1986) Zdzitowiecki, 1989 *''Andracantha clavata'' (Goss, 1940) ''Andracantha gravida'' (Alegret, 1941) Schmidt, 1975 *''Andracantha mergi'' Lundström, 1942 *''Andracantha phalacrocoracis'' (Yamaguti, 1939) *''Andracantha tandemtesticulata'' Monteiro, Amato & Amato, 2006 *''Andracantha tunitae'' (Weiss, 1914) ''Ardeirhynchus'' ...

Parasitic Worms
Parasitic worms, also known as helminths, are large Parasitism#Basic concepts, macroparasites; adults can generally be seen with the naked eye. Many are intestinal worms that are soil-transmitted helminth, soil-transmitted and intestinal parasite infection, infect the gastrointestinal tract. Other parasitic worms such as schistosomes reside in blood vessels. Some parasitic worms, including leeches and monogeneans, are ectoparasites thus, they are not classified as helminths, which are Parasitism#Basic concepts, endoparasites. Parasitic worms live in and feed in living host (biology), hosts. They receive nourishment and protection while disrupting their hosts' ability to absorb nutrients. This can cause weakness and disease in the host, and poses a global health and economic problem. Parasitic worms cannot reproduce entirely within their host's body; they have a life cycle that includes some stages that need to take place outside of the host. Helminths are able to survive in the ...
