In the United States, it is typically the largest single emergency preparedness exercise in the country, with over 30,000 operators participating each year. Field Day is always the fourth full weekend of June, beginning at 18:00 UTC Saturday and running through 20:59 UTC Sunday. Since the first ARRL Field Day in 1933, radio amateurs throughout North America have practiced the rapid deployment of radio communications equipment in environments ranging from operations under tents in remote areas to operations inside Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs). Operations using emergency and alternative power sources are highly encouraged, since electricity and other public infrastructures are often among the first to fail during a natural disaster or severe weather. They chose to rehearse and premiere the play in Derry with the hope of establishing a major theatre company for Northern Ireland. The company original stated artistic intention was to bring "professional theatre to people who might otherwise never see it". Field Day subsequently grew into a broader cultural and political project. Before the company's opening performance, four prominent Northern Irish writers were invited to join the project:—Seamus Deane, David Hammond, Seamus Heaney, and Tom Paulin—who would eventually become Field Day's board of directors. Field Day (Marshall Crenshaw Album)
''Field Day'' is the second album by American rock musician Marshall Crenshaw. Recorded quickly after the moderate success of his self-titled debut album, ''Field Day'' featured a change in style and production after Crenshaw switched producers from Richard Gottehrer to Steve Lillywhite. The recording of the album was remembered positively by Crenshaw as was the album's sound. Despite the success of its predecessor, ''Field Day'' was a commercial disappointment, reaching number 52 in the United States while its lead single, "Whenever You're on My Mind" reached number 103 on the singles chart. There was some criticism geared toward the album's production. Despite this, Crenshaw remains supportive of the album and "Whenever You're on My Mind" has become one of Crenshaw's most famous songs. Background ''Field Day'' was recorded shortly after Crenshaw's self-titled debut album. Crenshaw recalled being rushed to release a follow-up to his moderately successful debut despite a lack o ...

Field Day (Anthony Phillips Album)
''Field Day'' is a studio double album by English multi-instrumentalist and composer Anthony Phillips, released in October 2005 by Blueprint Records. Background The project was conceived in September 2001, when Phillips decided to start on a proposed "quickie" instrumental guitar album. This would be his first guitar album since ''Private Parts & Pieces V: Twelve'' released in 1985, and until the early 2000s, his albums contained little fresh material. By this time in his career, Phillips had considered himself "a stranger to the world of guitars", and upon entering a break in producing keyboard-based television music, thought it was the right time to practise his guitar playing. Phillips took each acoustic guitar he had and practised for two or three hours each day, "in a state of great excitement but chronic rustiness". After three weeks, he went through recordings of what he had played and selected the strongest sections to arrange into a complete composition for recording. B ...

Sports Day
Sports Day (British English & Canadian English), field days (American English), or play days (Canadian English) are events staged by many schools and offices in which people participate in competitive sporting activities, often with the aim of winning trophies or prizes. Though they are often held at the beginning of summer, they are also staged in the autumn or spring seasons, especially in countries where the summer is very harsh. Schools stage many sports days in which children participate in the sporting events. It is usually held in elementary schools. In schools which use a house system a feature of the school is the competition between the houses; this is especially brought out during sporting events such as an inter-house sports day. Games that are played on school sports days can be wide and varied. They can include straightforward sprints and longer races for all age groups as well as egg and spoon races. Three-legged races are run as well as sack races, wheelbarr ...

Club Day
Club Day, also known as Gala Day or Field Day, is an annual community celebration, common in rural communities in North West England, during which clubs, churches and other organizations process and gather for various activities such as competitions for fancy dress, arts and crafts, cooking, and produce. Many of these events originated in processions of the churches and some have, or have had, a strong agricultural background. Most villages hold club events on the same weekend each year to avoid conflicting with neighbouring villages. The events often have at their centre a Rose or Field Day Queen. These are young girls, selected for the year, whose duties include the official opening of the event and a central role in any procession. In some villages, such as Ribchester, the Field Day Queen is responsible for opening other village events.
