Fernando Ortiz Fernández
Fernando Ortiz Fernández (16 July 1881 – 10 April 1969) was a Cuban essayist, anthropologist, ethnomusicologist and scholar of Afro-Cuban culture. Ortiz was a prolific polymath dedicated to exploring, recording, and understanding all aspects of indigenous Cuban culture. Ortiz has been called the "third discoverer of Cuba", after Christopher Columbus and Alexander von Humboldt. A title first given to him by his secretary Rubén Martínez Villena and later echoed and published by Juan Marinello. Ortiz is widely recognized as a pioneering figure in postcolonial Latin American thought, as well as a foundational voice in African American anthropology. One of Ortiz's most influential contributions is his coining of the term "transculturation," which describes the complex process of cultural convergence and exchange. Fernando Ortiz Arana (born 26 October 1944) is a Mexican politician and long serving legislator affiliated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). Born in Santiago de Querétaro Santiago (, ; ), also known as Santiago de Chile (), is the capital and largest city of Chile and one of the largest cities in the Americas. It is located in the country's central valley and is the center of the Santiago Metropolitan Region, ..., Ortiz Arana is the son of José Ortiz Antañana, a real estate agent, and Virginia Arana Morán. Fernando Damián Ortiz (born 25 December 1977) is an Argentine professional football manager and former footballer. Playing career Ortiz was spotted by Argentine giants Boca Juniors in 1997. He made his debut in 1998, and helped Boca to win the Primera División 1998 Apertura championship. He played eight games for Boca in all competitions, scoring three goals. In 1999, he was loaned to RCD Mallorca in Spain, where he played half-a-season for their B team ( RCD Mallorca B). He returned that same year to Argentina to play for San Lorenzo. Subsequently, he had spells at Unión de Santa Fe and Banfield, before joining Estudiantes de La Plata in 2004. Ortiz helped Estudiantes to win the 2006 Apertura.
