Fenn O'Berg
Fenn O'Berg was an improvisational computer music trio made up of members Christian Fennesz, Peter Rehberg and Jim O'Rourke. Their existence began with a surprise appearance at the Nickelsdorf Festival in 1997. This was followed by extensive international touring in 1998–99, bringing a live stage setup consisting solely of portable computing devices to venues which would not usually have booked such shows at that time. The cover art for their first two albums is provided by Chicks on Speed. Experimental music is a general label for any music or music genre that pushes existing boundaries and genre definitions. Editions Mego
Mego was an experimental electronic music independent record label based in Vienna, Austria. The label has been superseded by a new company, Editions Mego, which was set up both to keep Mego albums in print and to issue new albums, run by Peter Rehberg a.k.a. Pita. Impact and critical acclaim The label's efforts were awarded a distinction at the Ars Electronica 1999. Christian Fennesz (born 25 December 1962) is an Austrian producer and guitarist active in electronic music since the 1990s, often credited mononymously as Fennesz. His work utilizes guitar and laptop computers to blend melody with treated samples and glitch production. He lives and works in Vienna, and currently records on the UK label Touch. Fennesz first received widespread recognition for his 2001 album '' Endless Summer'', released on the Austrian label Mego. He has collaborated with a number of artists, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jim O'Rourke, Ulver, David Sylvian, and King Midas Sound. Biography Fennesz was born and raised in Austria and studied music formally in art school. He started playing guitar around the age of 8 or 9. Jim O'Rourke (musician)
Jim O'Rourke (born January 18, 1969) is an American musician, instrumentalist, composer, singer-songwriter and record producer. He is best known for his numerous solo and collaborative music projects, many of which are instrumental, and has been acclaimed for his music that spans varied genres, including avant-garde styles such as ambient, noise and minimalism, and styles of rock like indie rock and post-rock. He has been associated with the Chicago experimental and improv scene, as well as with New York City when he relocated there in 2000 for his tenure as a member of American indie rock band Sonic Youth. Peter Rehberg
Peter Rehberg (29 June 1968 – 22 July 2021), also known as Pita, was a British-Austrian composer of electronic audio works. He was the head of Editions Mego, which he founded in 2006 as a successor to Mego. Early life Rehberg was born in Tottenham on 29 June 1968. He grew up in Hertfordshire, before relocating to Austria, his father's country of origin. Career Rehberg became associated with Mego in the latter part of 1994. He consequently released his first single early the following year, which was also the first release in the record label's catalogue. He followed this up with his debut album titled ''Seven Tons for Free'' in 1996, released under the name Pita. Three years later, Rehberg received Prix Ars Electronica Distinction Award for Digital Musics, alongside Christian Fennesz and the label itself. Chicks On Speed
Chicks on Speed is a feminist art music ensemble, formed in Munich in 1997 at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Though Chicks on Speed reached cult status throughout the 2000s and became most well known as catalysts of the musical genre electroclash, the band performs as a multidisciplinary art group working in performance art, electronic dance music, collage graphics, textile design, fashion, musical instrument design, artistic research and art education. Bernard Alfred "Jack" Nitzsche ( '; April 22, 1937 – August 25, 2000) was an American musician, arranger, songwriter, composer, and record producer. He came to prominence in the early 1960s as the right-hand-man of producer Phil Spector, and went on to work with the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and others. He worked extensively in film scores for the films ''Performance'', ''The Exorcist'' and '' One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest''.
