Fatima Begum (other)
Fatma Begum (1892 1983) was an Indian actress, director, producer and screenwriter. She is known as ''The First Female Film Director in Indian Cinema''. Within four years, she went on to write, produce and direct many films. She launched her own production house, Fatma Films, which later became Victoria-Fatma Films, and directed her first film, ''Bulbul-e-Paristan'', in 1926. Early life Fatma Begum was born into an Urdu-speaking Muslim family in India and came from a background in the Urdu language theater, her family of Muslim background having spoken that tongue. She was trained in theater and mostly acted in Urdu and Hindi plays. Career She began her career on the Urdu stage. She later shifted to films and debuted in Ardeshir Irani's silent film, '' Veer Abhimanyu'' (1922). It was common practice for men to play women in plays and movies, so she became a huge woman superstar. Sidi Ibrahim Muhammad Yakut Khan III
Major Sidi Ibrahim Muhammad Yakut Khan III (Urdu: ; or Najaf Ali Khan) was the Nawab of Sachin from 1887 until his death in 1930. Biography He was born on 23 December 1886 to Abdul Kadir Khan. In January 1887, his father abdicated as the Nawab of Sachin in his favour, and he succeeded him on 7 February 1887. Due to his minority, the affairs of Sachin were placed under the administration of the British Government. He was brought up in infancy by a European lady Miss Rix. At the age of eleven, he was sent to Rajkumar College in Rajkot, where he remained until 1902, after which he was sent to Mayo College in Ajmer. In 1904, he entered the Imperial Cadet Corps and, after completing his course with a good conduct certificate in 1906, left the institution. Silent Film
A silent film is a film without synchronized recorded sound (or more generally, no audible dialogue). Though silent films convey narrative and emotion visually, various plot elements (such as a setting or era) or key lines of dialogue may, when necessary, be conveyed by the use of inter- title cards. The term "silent film" is something of a misnomer, as these films were almost always accompanied by live sounds. During the silent era, which existed from the mid-1890s to the late 1920s, a pianist, theater organist—or even, in larger cities, an orchestra—would play music to accompany the films. Pianists and organists would play either from sheet music, or improvisation. Sometimes a person would even narrate the inter-title cards for the audience. Though at the time the technology to synchronize sound with the film did not exist, music was seen as an essential part of the viewing experience. ''Alam Ara'' () is a 1931 Indian Hindustani-language historical fantasy film directed and produced by Ardeshir Irani. It revolves around a king and his two wives, Navbahaar and Dilbahaar, who are childless; soon, a ''fakir'' (Wazir Muhammad Khan) tells the king that the former wife will give birth to a boy, later named Qamar ( Master Vithal), but the child will die following his 18th birthday if Navbahaar cannot find the necklace he asks for.
