Fast Life (1929 Film)
''Fast Life'' is a 1929 American all-talking sound drama film directed by John Francis Dillon and written by John F. Goodrich. It is based on the 1928 play ''Fast Life'' by Samuel Shipman and John B. Hymer. The film stars Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Loretta Young, William Holden, Frank Sheridan, Chester Morris and Ray Hallor. The film was released by Warner Bros. on September 1, 1929. Plot A man is tried and convicted for the murder of a man who flirted with his wife and sentenced to death However, it turns out that he is innocent of the murder and that the real killer has close ties to a powerful politician. John Francis Dillon (director)
John Francis Dillon (July 13, 1884 – April 4, 1934) was an American film director and actor of the silent film, silent era. He directed 130 films between 1914 and 1934. He also appeared in 74 films between 1914 and 1931. He was born in New York, New York, was a brother of Robert A. Dillon, and died in Los Angeles, California from a myocardial infarction, heart attack. He was married to the actress Edith Hallor. Lost Film
A lost film is a feature film, feature or short film in which the original negative or copies are not known to exist in any studio archive, private collection, or public archive. Films can be wholly or partially lost for a number of reasons. Early films were not thought to have value beyond their theatrical run, so many were discarded afterward. Nitrate film used in early pictures was highly flammable and susceptible to degradation. The Library of Congress began acquiring copies of American films in 1909, but not all were kept. Due to improvements in film technology and recordkeeping, few films produced in the 1950s or beyond have been lost. Rarely, but occasionally, films classified as lost are found in an uncataloged or miscataloged archive or private collection, becoming "rediscovered films". Purnell Pratt
Purnell Pratt (October 20, 1885 – July 25, 1941) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 110 films between 1914 and 1941. He was born in Bethel, Illinois and died in Hollywood, California. Pratt spent more than a year in France in the U. S. military during World War I. He attended the University of Pennsylvania with plans to perform in opera. However, lacking funds and unable to obtain a hearing, he joined the chorus of a George M. Cohan production. He worked in Cohan's troupes for a decade.
