''Fancy Dance'' is a 2023 drama film directed by Erica Tremblay in her feature narrative directorial debut, from a screenplay by Tremblay and Miciana Alise. It premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2023. Plot Since her sister's disappearance, Jax has cared for her niece Roki on the Seneca–Cayuga Nation Reservation. Every spare minute goes into finding her missing sister while also helping Roki prepare for an upcoming powwow. At the risk of losing custody to Jax's father, Frank, the pair hit the road to track down Roki's mother in time for the powwow. Erica Tremblay (born 1980) is a Native American (Seneca–Cayuga Nation, Seneca–Cayuga) documentary film director, based out of New York City, New York City known for her films ''In the Turn'' (2014), ''Heartland: A Portrait of Survival'' (2012) and ''Tiny Red Universe (2007)'' as well as her feature film directorial debut ''Fancy Dance (2023 film), Fancy Dance'' (2023).
