Family Style (Vaughan Brothers Album)
''Family Style'' is the only studio album featuring guitarists and vocalists Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. It was released on September 25, 1990. In his early years, Stevie often remarked that he would like to do an album with his elder brother. That wish turned out to be his last studio performance, released nearly a month after his death. The liner notes end with "Thanks Mama V. for letting us play." The album received mixed reviews. Critics praised the songwriting of both brothers, and highlighted songs such as "D/FW", "Tick Tock", and "Telephone Song", while some criticized the lack of their own personal styles, and the songs straying too far from traditional blues. The album peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Ardent Studios
Ardent Studios is an American recording studio located in Memphis, Tennessee, United States. The studio was founded in the late 1950s by John King, Fred Smith, and John Fry. Over time, it has become a commercially successful recording studio. History Ardent Studios was founded by John Fry, John King, and Fred Smith, in 1959. Initially, it was a studio in John Fry's family garage, where he recorded his first 45s for the Ardent Records label. Equipment in the studio included an Altec tube mixing console, Ampex 2-track tape recorder, a Pultec equalizer, and Neumann microphones. In 1966, the studio moved to a commercial location shared with a bookshop. Tom Dowd was consulting with Auditronics on an early multitrack console for nearby Stax Records, and Fry ordered the same input modules for his second mixing board. Denny Freeman
Dennis Edward Freeman (August 7, 1944 – April 25, 2021) was an American Texas and electric blues guitarist. Although he is primarily known as a guitar player, Freeman also played piano and electronic organ, both in concert and on various recordings. He worked with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, Bob Dylan, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton, James Cotton, Taj Mahal, Barry Goldberg and Percy Sledge amongst others. Early life Freeman was born in Orlando, Florida, on August 7, 1944. He spent his adolescence in Dallas, Texas, in the late 1950s and played in a rock group called The Corals while in high school. He went to college in North Texas, and had a brief stay in Los Angeles, before relocating in 1970 to Austin, Texas.
