Faithless (2000 Film)
''Faithless'' () is a Swedish film directed by Liv Ullmann from a script by Ingmar Bergman. The story is loosely based on experiences of adultery from Bergman's own life. It was entered into the 2000 Cannes Film Festival. Plot An aging director (named "Bergman") conjures in his imagination the central character, Marianne. He interviews her to compose the story of her life-changing affair. Marianne had been happily married to Markus, an orchestra conductor, with a young daughter Isabelle. Her best friend is David, who is seeking funding for a film project. When Markus is away, David approaches Marianne and they go to Marianne's home. There, David surprises her by asking her if they can sleep together. Marianne asserts she sees David more as a brother; she eventually agrees they can sleep in the same bed in nightwear and without sexual relations. Liv Ullmann
Liv Johanne Ullmann (born 16 December 1938) is a Norwegian actress and filmmaker. Recognised as one of the greatest European actresses of all time, Ullmann is known as the muse and frequent collaborator of filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, whom she dated for five years. She acted in many of his films, including ''Persona (1966 film), Persona'' (1966), ''Cries and Whispers'' (1972), ''Scenes from a Marriage'' (1973), ''The Passion of Anna'' (1969), and ''Autumn Sonata'' (1978). Jan-Olof Strandberg
Jan-Olof Strandberg (9 September 1926 – 2 May 2020) was a Swedish stage and film actor. He appeared in 45 films since 1947. On stage one of his most famous parts was as Vladimir in Samuel Beckett's ''Waiting for Godot'', at Sweden's Royal Dramatic Theatre (where he performed 85 parts over the years). He appeared in Erland Josephson's play ''Blomsterplockarna ("The Flower Pickers")'' at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in 2006-2007, performed the part of Andrew in A. R.
