Fairchild House, Hoxton
Fairchild House is a 1950 apartment block on the Pitfield Estate in Hoxton, London. When it was built it was the largest council council block that Hackney Council had built to date. It is a six-storey building of council housing. The Twentieth Century Society notes "the lavish treatment of its Northern elevation". It is a red brick building containing an interesting examples of the Erich Mendelsohn, Mendelsohn curve of Art Deco, Streamline Moderne architecture. The building was opened by Aneurin Bevan, Aneurin (Nye) Bevan in 1950, the then Labour Minister for Health. The land surrounding the building contains several Plague pit, plague pits. Signs around the estate advertise this with the following wording ''"Please Keep off the Grass. This is one of the many burial grounds pertaining to the Black Plague 1665-1666".'' The Fairchild House on S. Main Street in Monticello, Kentucky, United States, is a Queen Anne-style house built in 1905-06 for Wilburn Fillmore Fairchild, a banker and prominent local merchant. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. It is a two-story brick house, in Queen Anne style with elements of Free Classic substyle, based on plans of Barber & Kluttz, architects of Knoxville, Tennessee who published pattern books that were distributed widely. Fairchild Mansion is a historic home located at Oneonta in Otsego County, New York. It is a three-story brick building with a turret, gables, a pedimented entrance porch and a porte cochere in the Queen Anne style. The original house was built in 1867 and subsequently expanded and modernized in 1897 and 1915 by its owner, George W. Fairchild (1845-1924). The home was taken over by Oneonta Masonic Lodge in 1929.
