Fair Week (1922 Film)
''Fair Week'' is a 1924 American silent comedy film directed by Rob Wagner and written by Thomas J. Geraghty and Walter Woods. The film stars Walter Hiers, Constance Wilson, Carmen Phillips, J. Farrell MacDonald, Bobbie Mack, and Mary Jane Irving. The film was released on March 16, 1924, by Paramount Pictures. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Slim Swasey of Rome, Missouri, is the guardian of Tinkle, a six year old girl deserted by some member of a traveling show. During Fair Week balloonist Madame Le Grande arrives. Isadore Kelly and 'Sure Thing' Sherman are crooks and plan to rob the town bank. When the balloon ascends in a sudden flight, Tinkle is its only passenger, but Slim rushes to the rescue with some acrobatic stunts. Later, Slim foils the scheme of the crooks and wins the affections of Ollie Remus, the young woman that he loves. Madame Le Grande turns out to be Tinkle's mother. Robert Leicester Wagner (August 2, 1872 – July 20, 1942) was the editor and publisher of ''Script'', a weekly literary film magazine published in Beverly Hills, California, between 1929 and 1949. Rob Wagner was a magazine writer, screenwriter, director and artist before founding the liberal magazine that focused its coverage on the film industry and California and national politics. Its leftist leanings attracted many of the best artists and writers during the Depression. Early years Born in Detroit, Michigan, on August 2, 1872, Wagner graduated from University of Michigan, the University of Michigan with an engineering degree in 1894. Lois Wilson (actress)
Lois Wilson (June 28, 1894 – March 3, 1988) was an American actress who worked during the silent film era. She also directed two short films and was a scenario writer. Early life Born to Andrew Kenley Wilson and Constance (née Coolidge) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Wilson's family moved to Alabama when she was still very young. She earned a degree from Alabama Normal College (now the University of West Alabama), and became a school teacher for young children, soon leaving to pursue a film career. In 1915, Wilson moved to California after winning a beauty contest put on by Universal Pictures, Universal Studios and the Birmingham News. This pageant was the predecessor to the Miss Alabama/Miss America pageant system, and Wilson is considered the first Miss Alabama. Jane Keckley (September 10, 1876 – August 14, 1963) was an American actress of the silent and sound film eras. Biography Keckley was born in Charleston, South Carolina, and went to school there and in Georgia. Before she acted in films, Keckley performed in stock theater and in vaudeville. Keckley began her film career in one- and two-reel Westerns in 1911. Her first feature film was 1915's ''The Circular Staircase'' (under the name Jane Watson). In her twenty-five year career, she would appear in over 90 films, as well as dozens of shorts. She would appear as a supporting actress in such films as: William Desmond Taylor's ''Huck and Tom'' (1918); the 1936 version of ''Show Boat'', starring Irene Dunne and Allan Jones; and '' Magnificent Obsession'' (1935), starring Irene Dunne and Robert Taylor.
