The University of Porto (''Universidade do Porto'') is a Portugal, Portuguese Public university, public research university located in Porto, and founded on 22 March 1911. It is the second largest Portuguese university by number of enrolled students, after the University of Lisbon, and has one of the most noted research outputs in Portugal. Orfeão Universitário do Porto (OUP) ComM • ComIP is a Portuguese student Association linked to the University of Porto dedicated to choir singing and Portuguese culture (mainly folk music and dance, and academic traditions). Originally founded on March 6, 1912 under the name of Orfeon Académico do Porto, following the French mouvement des orphéons, it is one of the few associations that gather students from all the Faculties of the University of Porto. It has undergone reorganizations in 1937 and in 1942, from where its current designation still lasts until today. Carlos Amarante
Carlos Luís Ferreira da Cruz Amarante (30 October 1748 – 22 January 1815) was a Portuguese people, Portuguese military engineer and architect. He played a key role in the transition from Baroque and Rococo styles to Neoclassicism in Portugal. Largely self-taught, he began his career in Braga, where he designed religious and civic buildings that balanced traditional ornamentation with emerging neoclassical influences. His most notable work is the church at the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, a landmark of late 18th-century Portuguese architecture. Later in his career, he fully embraced Neoclassicism in Porto, designing churches and infrastructure projects, including the city's first permanent bridge over the Douro, Douro River. Neoclassical architecture, sometimes referred to as Classical Revival architecture, is an architectural style produced by the Neoclassicism, Neoclassical movement that began in the mid-18th century in Italy, France and Germany. It became one of the most prominent architectural styles in the Western world. Veniam was a technology startup focused on building large WiFi mesh networks using moving vehicles like city buses or taxis.
