Face To Face (1976 Film)
''Face to Face'' () is a 1976 Swedish psychological drama film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman. It tells the story of a psychiatrist who is suffering from a mental illness. It stars Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson. It is also the film debut of Lena Olin. Releases The film was conceived and produced as a four-part mini-series on Swedish television with a running time of 177 minutes. The episodes were entitled: # Uppbrottet (The Separation) # Gränsen (The Border) # Skymningslandet (The Twilight Land) # Återkomsten (The Return) It was edited down for theatrical releases for running times from 114 to 135 minutes. However, the theatrical version premiered first. The film was later screened at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival held in May, but was not entered into the main competition. Roger Joseph Ebert ( ; June 18, 1942 – April 4, 2013) was an American Film criticism, film critic, film historian, journalist, essayist, screenwriter and author. Vincent Canby
Vincent Canby (July 27, 1924 – October 15, 2000) was an American film and theatre critic who was the chief film critic for ''The New York Times'' from 1969 until the early 1990s, then its chief theatre critic from 1994 until his death in 2000. He reviewed more than one thousand films during his tenure there. Early life Canby was born in Chicago, the son of Katharine Anne (née Vincent) and Lloyd Canby. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review aggregator, review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Kari Sylwan (born 15 October 1940) is a Swedish actress, dancer, ballet teacher, and choreographer. Career Sylwan started as a dancer in 1956 at the Royal Swedish Ballet and at the Cullberg Ballet. At both companies she danced leading parts, for example the title roles in Birgit Cullberg's ''The Lady from the Sea'', based on Ibsen's play, and her adaptation of Strindberg's Miss Julie. Sylwan later acted in the Ingmar Bergman films ''Cries and Whispers'' and '' Face to Face''. Tore Dyveke Segelcke (23 April 1901 – 22 September 1979) was a Norwegian actress. Biography Tore Løkkeberg was born at Fredrikstad (town), Fredrikstad in Østfold, Norway. Her parents were Georg Løkkeberg (1872–1951) and Hulda Marie Hansen (1878–1941). She was the sister of actor Georg Løkkeberg (1909–1986). Karl Gösta Prüzelius (11 August 1922 – 15 May 2000) was a Swedish actor. His first film part was in the 1945 film Flickorna i Småland. He played in films as diverse as '' Summer with Monika'', '' Space Invasion of Lapland'', ''Fanny and Alexander'', and Ingmar Bergman's film version of ''The Magic Flute'' (1975).
