Fabiola Da Silva
Fabiola da Silva (born June 18, 1979), nicknamed Fabby, is a Brazilian professional vert skater who competes on the LG Action Sports World Tour. She has received over fifty medals in the LG Action Sports World Tour events. She has received seven X Games gold medals and one silver, making her the most decorated female athlete in X Games history. In a seven-year stretch, she only lost one X Games event, finishing second in 1999. She has been so dominant against women skaters that she forced the hand of the sport's administrators in respect of limited gender integration of the professional sport: in 2000, the Aggressive Skaters Association created the so-called "Fabiola Rule", which allowed women to compete in the formerly all-male vert competition. Vert skating or vertical skating is a discipline using skates like inline skates or roller skates on a vert ramp, a style of half-pipe. In vert skating, the skater is able to achieve more air-time as compared to other styles of skating, meaning skaters can perform complicated aerial maneuvers and acrobatic tricks, such as spins and flips. The intent of vert skating is to ride higher than the coping (the metal pipe on top of the ramp) and perform spins or flips. It focuses on complicated aerial maneuvers, such as spins and flips. X Games
The X Games are a series of action sports events founded by ESPN Inc. and aired on ESPN networks and ABC. Gravity Games
The Gravity Games was a multi-sport competition originating in Providence, Rhode Island that was broken down into Winter (only held in 2000) and Summer (held from 1999 to 2006) adaptations. The competition featured a variety of extreme sports such as aggressive inline skating, skateboarding, freestyle motocross, BMX freestyle and snowboarding.
