Gun Laws In California
Gun laws in California regulate the sale, possession, and use of firearms and ammunition in the state of California in the United States. The gun laws of California are some of the most restrictive in the United States. A five-year Firearm Safety Certificate, obtained by paying a $25 fee, submission of applicant data to the state, and passing a written test proctored by a DOJ Certified Instructor, is required for the sale, delivery, loan, or transfer of any firearm. Handguns sold by dealers must be "California legal" by being listed on the state's Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale. This roster, which requires handgun manufacturers to pay a fee and submit specific models for safety testing, has become progressively more stringent over time. In 2013, a federal civil rights lawsuit was launched on the basis that new regulations were a de facto ban on new handgun models. Private sales of firearms must be done through a licensed dealer. All firearm sales are recorded by the stat ...

Fire Safe Cigarette
Fire-safe cigarettes (FSC) are cigarettes that are designed to extinguish more quickly than standard cigarettes if ignored, with the intention of preventing accidental fires. They are also known as lower ignition propensity (LIP), reduced fire risk (RFR), self-extinguishing, fire-safe or reduced ignition propensity (RIP) cigarettes. In the United States, "FSC" above the barcode signifies that the cigarettes sold are fire standards compliant (FSC). Fire-safe cigarettes are produced by adding two to three thin bands of less-porous cigarette paper along the length of the cigarette, creating a series of harder-to-burn “speed bumps”. As the cigarette burns down, it will tend to be extinguished at each of these points unless the user is periodically intensifying the flame by inhaling. FSC cigarettes typically use ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) adhesive in the banding material. History In 1929, a cigarette-ignited fire in Lowell, Massachusetts, caught the attention of U.S. Congresswom ...

Fine-structure Constant
In physics, the fine-structure constant, also known as the Sommerfeld constant, commonly denoted by (the Alpha, Greek letter ''alpha''), is a Dimensionless physical constant, fundamental physical constant that quantifies the strength of the electromagnetic interaction between elementary charged particles. It is a dimensionless quantity (dimensionless physical constant), independent of the system of units used, which is related to the strength of the coupling of an elementary charge ''e'' with the electromagnetic field, by the formula . Its numerical value is approximately , with a relative uncertainty of The constant was named by Arnold Sommerfeld, who introduced it in 1916 Equation 12a, ''"rund 7·" (about ...)'' when extending the Bohr model of the atom. quantified the gap in the fine structure of the spectral lines of the hydrogen atom, which had been measured precisely by Albert A. Michelson, Michelson and Edward W. Morley, Morley in 1887. Why the constant should have t ...

Fountain Street Church
Fountain Street Church (FSC) is an independent, non-denominational church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The church started out as a Baptist congregation, but it changed its views when liberal Christianity became popular in the late 1800s. Most of the people who influenced this change were graduates of the University of Chicago Divinity School, a pioneer of liberal Christianity. Established in the largest town in West Michigan in 1869 as Fountain Street Baptist Church, by 1960, FSC ended its Baptist identity altogether to become an independent, non-denominational, and liberal church. In 1959, a book chronicling the story of Fountain Street Church titled ''Liberal Legacy – A History of Fountain Street Church'' was published in-house by Philip Buchen, a member of the church and legal advisor to President Gerald Ford. In the years between 1896 and 2006, Fountain Street Church gradually shed its explicitly Christian identity for a non-creedal identity similar to Unitarian Universali ...

Free Speech Coalition
The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) is a non-profit industry trade group, trade association of the sex industry in the United States. Founded in 1991, it opposes the passage and enforcement of obscenity laws and many censorship laws (with the exception of "anti-copyright infringement, piracy" laws). Background Prior to the establishment of a private right to own pornographic material in ''Stanley v. Georgia'' in 1969, adult film producers and sex toy manufacturers had limited ability to organize. The first truly national group to emerge was the Adult Film Association of America (AFAA), an association of approximately 100 film producers, exhibitors, and distributors. The AFAA hired attorneys and created a legal kit that could be used by those facing censorship. With the advent of inexpensive home videos, the AFAA became the Adult Film and Video Association of America (AFVAA). In 1987, adult film producer Hal Freeman was charged with Procuring (prostitution), pandering. In ''People v ...

First Satanic Church
The First Satanic Church (FSC) is an organization founded by Karla LaVey on October 31, 1999, in San Francisco. The church is dedicated to LaVeyan Satanism as codified by Anton LaVey in ''The Satanic Bible''. The church's stated mission is to carry on the legacy of Anton LaVey through "the study of Satanism and the occult sciences". For over a decade the church operated ''The 600 Club'', a now-defunct Internet forum dedicated to discussions of Satanism. The church's website claims the organization to have been founded in 1966, and the 1999 date to be a "re-establishment" of the original Church of Satan, claiming direct continuity with Anton LaVey. Karla asserts that she is re-representing the original teachings of her father from which the current administration of the Church of Satan has departed, and maintains an elitist stance of her father's original organization. Anton LaVey's book ''The Satanic Bible'' is stated as required reading prior to joining the First Satanic Churc ...
