Sorens (, ) is a Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Gruyère (district), Gruyère in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Fribourg (canton), Fribourg in Switzerland. History Sorens is first mentioned around 974-75 as ''Sotringus''. The municipality was formerly known by its German name ''Soring'', however, that name is no longer used. Geography Sorens has an area, , of . Of this area, or 64.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while or 26.6% is forested. Le Glèbe (; ) is a former Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Sarine (district), Sarine in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Fribourg (canton), Fribourg in Switzerland.
