FC Dallas Seasons
This is a list of seasons played by FC Dallas in North American soccer competitions from 1996, when the club was formed as the Dallas Burn, to the most recent completed season. It details the club's achievements in all major competitions. The club was formed as ''Dallas Burn'' as a founding member of Major League Soccer on June 6, 1995. On April 14, 1996, the Dallas Burn played their first ever game at the Cotton Bowl versus the San Jose Clash. The Burn were victorious in the game, winning the game in a penalty shoot-out following a 0–0 tie in regulation, in front of 27,779 fans. On August 12, 2004, the organization officially changed the club's name to FC Dallas. In its first 25 seasons of play, the team has made the playoffs 18 times (72% qualification record). FC Dallas
FC Dallas is an American professional Association football, soccer club based in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference (MLS), Western Conference. The franchise began play in 1996 as a charter club of the league. The club was founded in 1995 as the Dallas Burn before adopting its current name in 2004. Since 2005, Dallas have played in the DFW area's northern suburbs at the 20,500-capacity soccer-specific stadium, soccer-specific Toyota Stadium (Texas), Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas; home games in the club's early years were played at the Cotton Bowl (stadium), Cotton Bowl. The team is owned by the Hunt Sports Group led by brothers Clark Hunt and Dan Hunt, who is the team's president. 1996 FC Dallas Season
The 1996 Dallas Burn season was the inaugural season of the Major League Soccer team. It was the first time since 1981 that the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex had a professional soccer team. 1999 MLS Cup Playoffs
The 1999 Major League Soccer season was the fourth season of Major League Soccer. It was also the 87th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States, and the 21st with a national first-division league. This was the last season which used the 35 yard line shootout rule to resolve tied games, and that of the countdown timer, with MLS Cup 1999 adopting the IFAB-standard running clock thereafter. The Columbus Crew moved into the first soccer-specific stadium when Columbus Crew Stadium opened on May 15, 1999. The regular season began on March 20, and concluded on October 10. 1998 MLS Cup Playoffs
The 1998 Major League Soccer season was the third season of Major League Soccer. It was also the 86th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer in the United States, and the 20th with a national first-division league. The Chicago Fire and Miami Fusion played their inaugural seasons as the league's first two expansion teams. The NY/NJ MetroStars dropped the New York/New Jersey from their name and rebranded as just MetroStars, with no city, state or regional name attached to it. The regular season began on March 15, and concluded on September 27. The MLS Cup Playoffs began on September 30, and concluded with MLS Cup on October 25. Dante Washington
Dante Deneen Washington (born November 21, 1970) is an American former soccer player who played as a striker. Washington played college soccer at Radford University, and was named a first team All-American in 1991. He is the NCAA career leader for assists in men's soccer. Playing career After years in the various indoor leagues and minor outdoor leagues, he signed with MLS and the Columbus Crew midway through the inaugural 1996 season. But after only three games with the club, Dante was traded to the Dallas Burn for the rights to Brad Friedel. Washington spent the next three and a half seasons in Dallas, his best being in 1997, when he scored 12 goals. In 2000, it was off to Columbus again, traded for a draft pick. Washington scored 15 in his first season back with the Crew, but his production declined during the next two seasons and he wasn't re-signed in 2003.
