(released as ''Star Fleet'' in the UK) is a Japanese marionette tokusatsu TV series created by manga artist Go Nagai, and produced by Cosmo Productions and Jin Productions. The show aired on Fuji TV from to , with a total of 25 episodes (including the pre-series pilot episode), and was billed in Japan as being filmed in "Sūpāmariorama" (スーパーマリオラマ), a puppeteering process similar to Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation works. Background This show can be considered somewhat of a cross between the work of Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa's ''Getter Robo'' and ''Star Wars''. As in ''Getter Robo'', the show's protagonists ride three vehicles that combine into a giant robot. is a Japanese light novel series written by Usagi Nakamura and illustrated by Takeru Kirishima. The light novel was first serialized by Kadokawa Shoten in their light novel magazine ''Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko''. is a 1972 manga by Leiji Matsumoto.In Matsumoto's works, there have been planets with towns modelled somewhat after the Wild West. In ''Galaxy Express 999'', one of them is called Gun Frontier. Another such planet appears in '' Cosmo Warrior Zero''. It introduces Tochiro Oyama, best friend to Matsumoto's classic hero, Captain Harlock, who is in turn depicted as a gunslinger in the Old West. is a manga series written and illustrated by Go Nagai. The series tells the story of Ryo Utsugi, a student who finds himself in the body of an ancient demon known as Dante and sees himself in the middle of a conflict between God and the devils. Nagai's main influence to create the work was Gustave Doré's illustrations of Dante's ''Divine Comedy''. The series challenged the traditional view of God as good and Devil as bad and was created to provoke the critics of his previous works. During 1971, Nagai wrote the original ''Demon Lord Dante'' manga, which was published in Kodansha's ''Bokura Magazine''.
