Edasseri Award
Edasseri Award is an Indian literary award given to outstanding literary works produced in Malayalam language. Malayalam Literature
Malayalam, the lingua franca of the Indian state of Kerala and the union territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry (union territory), Puduchery, is one of the six classical languages of India. Malayalam literature comprises those literary texts written in Malayalam, a Dravidian languages, South-Dravidian language spoken in the Indian state of Kerala. The first travelogue in any Indian language is the Malayalam ''Varthamanappusthakam'', written by Paremmakkal Thoma Kathanar in 1785. Malayalam literature has been presented with 6 Jnanpith Award, Jnanapith awards, the second-most for any Dravidian language and the third-highest for any Indian language. The Sangam literature can be considered as the ancient predecessor of Malayalam. The origin of Malayalam calendar dates back to year 825 CE. Susmesh Chandroth
Susmesh Chandroth (born April 1, 1977) is an Indian writer, who writes in Malayalam. He won the first Yuva Puraskar for Malayalam in 2011 instituted by the Sahitya Akademi, Government of India. Susmesh Chandroth is also involved in the Malayalam film industry. He scripted and directed the feature film Padmini (film) based on the life story of the painter T. K. Padmini in the year 2018. Career His first novel ''D'' won the Novel Carnival Prize instituted by the DC Books. In 1998, he scripted and directed a documentary in Malayalam named ‘monsoon Camp: A new objectivity’. He scripted the 100 episodes of the series ‘Haritha Bharatham’ (Green India ) in the Malayalam Television Channel Amritha T V. In 2006 he scripted the Malayalam feature film ‘Pakal’ (the Day). P. Jayachandran (born 12 April 1971), better known by his pen name Unni R., is an Indian short-story writer and screenwriter, who is known for his work in Malayalam literature and Malayalam cinema. Born in Kudamaloor in Kottayam district, he is currently based in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. He studied in Kudamaloor LP school, CMS college High school, CMS College Kottayam and Baselius College, Kottayam. Unni R. won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Screenplay for the film ''Charlie'' (2015). Career For the story of same name, he has received the Kerala Sahithya Academy Geetha Hiranyan Endowment, Anganam-E.P. Sushama Endowment and Thomas Mundasseri Award. Lopa R. is an Indian poet and translator writing in Malayalam language with the pen name Lopamudra. Early life and education Born in Ayaparampu , Cheruthana Panchayat in Haripad, Alleppey in 1978, she is the daughter of N. Muraleedharan and Renuka. She inherited the literary affinity from her grandfather R. K. Kottarathil, who was a Harikatha artist, scholar and teacher. She lost her father at the age of two. She completed her Master's degree in English literature, English language and literature. Career After completing her education, Lopa focussed more on her literary works.
