''Extralife'' is the third studio album by the American Folk band Darlingside. It was released on February 23, 2018, by More Doug Records and Thirty Tigers. Release On February 7, 2018, the band announced the release of their third studio album, along with the single "Futures". The music video for the single, which was directed by Keith Boynton, features a time traveler's attempt to reset the balance of the world. Darlingside's lead vocalist Don Mitchell explained the single: "'Futures,' to me, is about taking our collective dread for what's to come and turning what could be a helpless feeling into a call to action, however insignificant that action might feel at the time," Critical reception ''Extralife'' was met with "universal acclaim" reviews from critics. Darlingside is a four-person indie folk band from Boston, MA. The band consists of Don Mitchell, Auyon Mukharji, Harris Paseltiner, and David Senft. Their style has been described as “exquisitely-arranged, literary-minded, baroque folk-pop” by All Songs Considered. Their latest full-length album, ''Fish Pond Fish'', was released in October 2020. History Darlingside began as a five-piece touring Indie rock band in the fall of 2009. Members (Sam, Don, Auyon, Harris, and David) met as undergraduates while attending Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Peter Bradley Adams
Peter Bradley Adams is a folk-pop Americana singer-songwriter from Birmingham, Alabama. History Before embarking on his solo career in 2005, Adams was a founding member of the folk pop duo eastmountainsouth. Within a year of forming eastmountainsouth in 2001 with Kat Maslich Bode, they were signed by Robbie Robertson to DreamWorks Records. Adams co-produced their 2003 debut album with Mitchell Froom, and toured extensively for the next year and a half with acts including Lucinda Williams, Tracy Chapman, Joan Baez and Nelly Furtado. Their single "You Dance" was a #1 AAA radio hit (top 5 for 2 months) in 2003 and eastmountainsouth performed on ''Late Night with Conan O'Brien'' on September 24, 2003. Caitlin Canty
Caitlin Canty (born January 24, 1982) is an American singer/songwriter. The ''San Francisco Chronicle'' calls Canty's alto a "casually devastating voice" and NPR says her music mixes "a gritty side with aching ballads.". Originally from Vermont, Canty moved to East Nashville, Tennessee in 2015. She tours internationally and spends much of her time on the road. Canty writes and performs primarily on a 1930s Recording King guitar. Early life and education Canty was born in Vermont. She sang in the Proctor Junior/Senior High School chorus and played the trombone in the band. At age 17, she was given a guitar as a Christmas gift and learned to play from a VHS tape of guitar lessons. Canty attended Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics. If all the weights are equal, then the weighted mean is the same as the arithmetic mean. Indie Folk
Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music. Indie folk hybridizes the acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation.
